Transport Planner

We are looking for a talented and ambitious Transport Planner to join our team in our busy and friendly London, Euston Tower office. You will be supporting the development and delivery of exciting and varied land use development planning and sustainable transport projects in both London and the wider South East region.

• We are helping our clients develop business cases for of several large infrastructure and transit schemes across London and the South East for both local Government and Central Government.
• We are working with land owners and developers to provide the transport solutions which enable them to take forward their major mixed use and residential sites.
• There is a large and diverse team of Transport Planners based in central London who are active in transport societies and professional institutions, actively support a host of charities and also enjoy a wide range of sports and social activities.

You will have the opportunity to be responsible for the technical delivery of projects, including:

• Development Planning - Transport Statements, Transport Assessments and transport-led Masterplanning;
• The preparation, delivery and monitoring of Travel Plans and Sustainable Access Strategies;
• Transport Development Control and Management support;
• Pedestrian wayfinding, cycle planning and public realm and space planning; and
• Travel behaviour change and travel demand management projects for Local Authority clients including workplace, schools and events programmes for a number of local authority clients

You will have the opportunity to work with diverse and interesting public and private sector clients, including The Crown Estate, Peterborough City Council, Airport operators, High Speed 2 Limited, Transport for London and Hampshire County Council.

Essential Criteria

• Experience of working in a Transport Planning Consultancy or Local Authority.
• Excellent report writing, other written and numerical presentation skills.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to different client locations in the South-East region of England.
• Development planning work including Transport Assessments and Statements, junction assessment.
• Working on projects which secure planning approval for travel plans to support planning applications.
• Knowledge or experience of travel behavioural changes projects such as Local Sustainable Transport Fund and/or Transition Year project delivery.

Desirable Criteria

• Knowledge of travel planning policies, thresholds, tools and monitoring requirements
• Experience of engaging with businesses or schools to deliver travel behavioural change projects in the UK.
• Understanding of different motivations/benefits for achieving travel behaviour change  • Experience of public or stakeholder engagement.
• Working towards Transport Planning Professional qualification.

Responsibilities

Willingness to travel. You would be based in our central London office (Euston Road), however would be expected to travel to our client offices in the South-East of England, subject to project delivery and client need.
