The Atkins Water Infrastructure Group is seeking a highly motivated, detail oriented, self-starter to join our Long Beach, CA office as a Project Manager. The Project Manager will be responsible for providing project management, technical support, and staff supervision for a variety of water and wastewater projects for clients in the greater Orange and Los Angeles County areas, projects tasks may include planning, designing and preparing contract documents related to water and wastewater infrastructure.


TYPICAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Responsibility for execution of projects from conceptual/planning phases through preparation of final plans, technical specifications, construction cost estimates and ready to Bid Packages
- Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets
- Technical oversight of design staff and team members for water and wastewater infrastructure projects including water pipelines, sewage collection systems, pump stations, storage tanks, etc.
- Perform construction administration services including bidding, requests for information, design clarifications and change order support.
- Monitor/manage project production for compliance with schedule, budget and quality objectives
- Maintain communications with team members, clients, and stakeholders involved with the project
- Supervise multidiscipline teams with staff of varying experience to accomplish project goals
- Ensure technical accuracy, standard engineering practices and inclusion of appropriate documents to support reports and design projects, evaluate alternatives, resolve technical issues and interface with other disciplines
- Perform quality control, maintain quality standards in work produced, check computations or review design drawings, interpretation of specifications and drawings, recommendations and documenting design modifications
- Support business development activities from identification of opportunities to preparing proposals and making presentations including technical input and approach to projects
- Demonstrate strong project management skills. PMP certification is a plus
- Familiarity with production of plans using AutoCad and/or Microstation.
- Knowledge of construction specifications including SSPWC and CSI standards.
- Management and mentoring of junior technical staff
- Coordinate work with other engineers and professionals within and outside own discipline, and with support services staff
- Perform such other duties as the supervisor may from time to time deem necessary
- Uphold engineering ethics and professional standards of conduct


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

B.S. or M.S. in Civil, Chemical or Environmental Engineering. The potential candidate has minimum 10 years combined experience in engineering and project management. Local experience with the cities, water/sanitation districts and regulatory agencies is highly desirable.

- Excellent interpersonal skills, strong technical competency and communications skills.

- General Competencies expected of all Professionals and Managers are as follows: Client Service, Commitment, Communication, Innovation & Continuous Improvement, Professionalism, Quality, and Teamwork.

- Ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize computer equipment; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; ability to visit project sites if necessary. Job also requires ability to assemble and analyze data.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATIONS:

PE license in CA is required.
