Atkins seeks an energetic and highly motivated self-starter to join our Atlanta, GA Technology Team as a Web Designer. This position will sit at our client site in Downtown Atlanta.


MAJOR FUNCTION

Under supervision, designs and produces innovative conceptual design, graphic artwork, and storyboard layouts, and develops and maintains the e*net web sites for IT and various departments within company. Ensure that IT global initiatives and standards are achieved within scope of responsibility.


JOB DUTIES

Develops, researches, and creates storyboard layouts for new applications and sections/features using appropriate design software.

Works closely with application developers to provide designs that are functional, user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing for web applications used company-wide.

Assesses new standards, technologies and trends; formulates strategies and plans for future enhancement of web sites.

Ensures that web sites are accessible from a variety of different environments (Explorer, Chrome and Safari).

Ensures that graphics are delivered to the viewer at sufficiently high speed and quality.

Creates image links, and ensures that links are up to date; updates information on pages so that content is current.

Tests, troubleshoots and repairs graphical bugs and problems in various applications.

Develops and maintains plan for organization's Internet presence, based on management priorities, policy directions, and established goals.

Conducts updating and maintenance of internal web sites.

Performs other such duties as supervisor may deem necessary.



EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Associate of Science degree in applicable area and two years’ experience, or equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience to provide working knowledge of state-of-the-art design and presentation software. Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, WordPress, Flash and PowerPoint is preferred.

Preferred technical skills include: Linux, HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript, and MySQL


SPECIAL SKILLS

Ability to work independently and as member of a team; ability to evaluate new and evolving web site technologies; knowledge and understanding of current authoring languages, editing and authoring tools, and related web site technologies; knowledge and understanding of internet operations and functionality, and of a wide range of internet programming and design tools; skill in computer graphics and layout; knowledge of the Internet, FTP, and the ability to develop web site documents; knowledge of HTML, DHTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP, web page creation, and web site maintenance.

Solid understanding of Web design, navigation, content presentation, usability best practices, and Web technology; proficient in HTML, Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Illustrator, along with a working knowledge of JavaScript and ASP; working knowledge of browser capabilities and design constraints for Web development; flexibility, outstanding work ethic, and ability to respond quickly to company and client needs.
