Take our vision into the future.

You might know us for the great work we do across our wide variety of projects. We're proud to say it's thanks to our people's diversity of thought, expertise and knowledge. And when you join us, you'll be a part of this genuinely collaborative environment, where everyone's voice is valued and treated equally.

We're passionate about what we do, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. Simply put, this a great place to be. So, when it comes to your life outside of work, ask us about our flexible and remote working policies designed to help you get the most out of life.

Tunnels and underground structures form an increasingly critical part of modern-day infrastructure.

This infrastructure provides economic, societal and environmental benefits through the facilitation of efficient and rapid movement of people below-ground. This may be in mass transit systems, high-speed rail lines or in highway tunnels.

We are expanding our team to meet growing demands from our extensive Client base, particularly in the infrastructure and energy sectors. Current areas of demand include nuclear new build, carbon capture & storage, renewable energy (hydropower), and other low carbon engineering.

Your purpose:

  • Candidates should have the right flare and ability that will help us develop and expand our tunnelling capability. We want to build on the existing portfolio of our rapidly expanding, flexible and outward looking team that can tackle work across a broad spectrum of sectors.
  • We are looking for bright and enthusiastic engineers from pre-chartered to chartered level.  The successful applicants will have a proven technical track record.

What you can bring:

  • A good academic background with a degree (ideally MSc or equivalent).
  • Chartered status or close to submitting chartership in civil or structural engineering.
  • Excellent interpersonal and technical skills and the ability to develop and lead tunnelling design teams.
  • Proven post-graduation experience, with a significant proportion gained with an engineering design company undertaking the design of tunnels or related infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of advanced constitutive soil models and experience of numerical modelling software (FLAC or PLAXIS). Use in relation to dynamic soil-structure interaction problems would be a benefit.
  • Knowledge of advanced structural analysis and experience of numerical modelling software (Robot  or STAAD). Use in relation to BIM-integrated workflows to exchange data with Revit would be a benefit.
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence to liaise with Clients. Good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful jobs.
  • Excellent report writing skills with the ability to self-check and produce accurate work. Willingness to travel on short assignments both within the UK and overseas.

Introducing the Team:

Our specialist Tunnelling team works across a range of engineering disciplines and applies advanced analysis techniques, combined with practical design, operational and site experience. We provide support to Clients throughout the project life cycle, from the planning and feasibility stages through to commissioning, operation, refurbishment and upgrade of tunnel infrastructure. We are a close-knit specialist team, and we love what we do. We work hard to ensure an inclusive and mutually respectful environment which fosters collaboration and innovation. Our open mindset unlocks creativity and helps us to deliver better outcomes both for our clients and the users of the infrastructure we design.

We love challenges, and routinely explore new ways of delivering value.
