Associate/Associate Director - Coastal Infrastructure

Do you have the drive, skills and ability to work with us as an Associate Engineer or Associate Director in our Coastal Infrastructure discipline, leading and shaping the future of AtkinsRéalis? The role will involve working with a respected technical team alongside our Chief Coastal Engineer and working collaboratively to both secure and deliver work across our extensive client portfolio.

We work closely with UK and international clients to plan and design coastal infrastructure from flood defences, coastal protection, harbours, marinas, waterside development, and port facilities.

In the UK we deliver an impressive portfolio of projects under the Environment Agency’s Collaborative Delivery Framework and their Marine & Coastal Framework.  We service a great number of coastal authorities under the Coastal Partnership East and our recent successful appointment to the Southern Coastal Group framework. We are also designers of the sea defence and marine jetties for the proposed Sizewell C Nuclear Power station.

Internationally we work extensively with our middle east and far east offices on coastal and port projects, providing specialist maritime design. Recent project wins include the design of ferry landing jetties in Hong Kong harbour and various waterside developments in the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea areas.

We also work with our North American offices in the USA and Canada to collaborate on larger design projects.

Requirements:

• Chartered Engineer with extensive experience in the fields of coastal and maritime engineering.
• Strong technical experience in assessment of design parameters, strategic coastal planning, coastal environment, climate change, beach management, the design of coastal & port structures with knowledge of relevant codes, standards and guidance documents, and an appreciation of current developments.
• Understanding and familiarity of numerical modelling software. AtkinsRéalis maintains in-house numerical modelling capability and uses DHI Mike software along with other industry standards such as SWAN and xbeach.
• Track record of delivery of successful projects and the ability to support winning tenders.
• Excellent, client focused, writing skills.
• Willingness to travel on short assignments within the UK and overseas.
• A valid UK driving licence is desirable.

Responsibilities:

• Leading the successful delivery of tasks and projects from inception to handover, meeting quality, time and budget requirements.
• Overseeing coastal and maritime activities for key local clients, maintaining and expanding a portfolio of strong relationships leading to new and repeat business.
• Generating successful proposals that meet client needs and lead to technically and commercially successful work.
• Leading in developing our service lines and technical capability, delivering business development targets.
• Inspiring and mentoring colleagues in developing their technical knowledge and understanding.
