Responsibilities:

  • Establish design criteria based on contractual requirements and in line with good engineering practices.
  • Analysis and detailed structural design of hydropower project structures including dams, spillways, powerhouse complex, penstock, and water conveyance system.
  • FEM dynamic review of dams and other structures.
  • Design of concrete and steel structures.
  • Prepare technical specifications and estimate bill of quantities.
  • Work with drafting technicians to prepare design drawings including general arrangement, layout, excavation, concrete outline, and detailed reinforcing and miscellaneous metal drawings.
  • Prepare design basis memoranda, technical memoranda, and reports, and coordinate report preparation within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team, coordinating and interfacing with electrical, mechanical and geotechnical disciplines.

Qualification Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s in Civil Engineering and Master’s degree in Structural Engineering.
  • A minimum of 12 to15 years of experience as a Civil/ Structural Engineer in the hydropower industry.
  • Strong software skills and proficiency in SAP 2000 and STAAD Pro.
  • Knowledge of ABAQUS, ANSYS, Revit, and Robot will be an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of international codes and standards such as USACE, USBR, ACI, ASCE.
  • AutoCAD and drafting software experience.
  • Strong technical capability and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple diverse assignments successfully in a consulting firm environment.
  • Ability to perform as a key member of an inter-disciplinary project team, including supervising and mentoring junior engineers and drafters.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
