Atkins Nuclear is currently seeking a Chemical Operator to join the nuclear team in Oak Ridge, TN.

JOB DUTIES
  • Operates the Y-12 Liquid Waste Treatment Facilities. 
  • The work includes but is not limited to unloading containers of wastewater, unloading treatment chemicals, adding treatment chemicals to waste water, and monitoring treatment processes including recording data. 
  • Performing this work requires operation of valves, pumps, filters, and other unit operations. 
  • Chemical Operators clean sludge from tanks, change filters, package secondary waste, decontaminate equipment, and perform both operating and characterization sampling.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • This job requires a high school education or the equivalent and two years’ experience in plant operations. 
  • Must be in good physical condition, perform manual lifting, climb ladders, work on elevated surfaces, and manually operate valves. 
  • Must qualify in Radworker II, Elevated Work, Lockout/Tagout, and HAZWOPER. 
  • He or She must also be able to wear a respirator, other Personal Protective Equipment as required and become an active beryllium worker. 
  • Must be available for overtime, including weekends. 
  • The applicant must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
