We are currently seeking a bilingual Communications Manager who will be responsible for managing our contractual communications requirements and support our client as we complete the Stage 2 South Extension and prepare for its transition into operational service. Our Communications Manager will be the client’s primary contact for strategic communications and stakeholder engagement during the system’s period of operation. He/she will oversee the implementation of internal and external communications plan, will be responsible for engaging with our client and stakeholders and providing necessary content and information. Our ideal candidate is equal parts strategist and doer, someone who understands the local transit context and is comfortable resolving complex communications situations.

Here's what our team is responsible for and what the Communications Manager will lead and execute with the support of one full-time employee:

• Lead the end-to-end communications function, including the management of its human and financial resources, and successful delivery against performance indicators.
• Work collaboratively with our client to manage and annually update our communications and crisis communications plans and support the implementation and execution of various task or milestone-specific plans.
• Maintain strong, effective relationships across the asset’s landscape, ensuring our team, client and stakeholders feel informed and engaged.
• Provide sound, strategic counsel to our team and our client’s management team in managing sensitive media and stakeholder issues.
• Support response to issues and/or media inquiries through the development of collateral, acting as project spokesperson when required.
• Manage the planning and execution of TransitNEXT Maintenance team’s internal communications program and contribute to efforts to build a strong employee brand and culture.
• Represent TransitNEXT Maintenance and its interests at related meetings and events.

The ideal candidate:

• A post-secondary degree in Communications or Public Relations (or related field deemed equivalent).
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in communications/public relations in public-facing roles, ideally within the infrastructure/construction/transit/government sectors.
• A demonstrated people leader with the ability to both set the vision and roll up your sleeves to help deliver.
• Experienced in issues management with a keen sense of the local political and media landscape.
• Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills with a knack for storytelling and the ability to translate complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner.
• Highly organized and able to effectively prioritize deliverables through to successful completion while maintaining a sense of calm in a complex and fast-paced environment.
• Customer and people focused, solutions oriented and a continuous improvement mindset.
• French/English bilingualism (both oral and written)
