Construction Quality Assurance Specialist

Quality Surveillance resources are required to support construction quality oversight at Site for the Darlington retube and feeder replacement (RFR) Project. The Quality surveillance Specialist is reporting to Project QA Manager.

Location -

Your role within the team:

  • Planning, performing, and documenting surveillance activities by verifying and witnessing / observing site inspection and testing and reviewing supporting documentation and records to ensure that specified requirements are met and maintained.
  • Review and accept Comprehensive work Packages and History Dockets that encompass: Work Inspections (WI), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Construction Inspection & Test Plans (CITPs), Engineering Drawing, Revisions, Material Inspection Logs as well as Calibration Logs and certificates.
  • Perform Quality Assurance reviews on Subcontractors Non-conformance Reports and providing feedback to ensure compliance of their quality program.
  • Notify the Project Quality Assurance Manager and Quality Assurance Lead about any adverse condition that may require the issue of a Stop Work Order providing all information relevant to the conditions adverse to quality and request direction on how to proceed.
  • The Quality Surveyor is also responsible to generate and submit for filing in Project Documents and all the records related to the quality surveillance activities (Significant correspondence, QS Plans, QS Records, etc.)
  • Performing audits and assessment as assigned by Project QA Manager.
  • Interface with Client and Suppliers in resolving quality issue and report any major findings and negative trends to Project procurement QA Manager.

The ideal candidate:

  • College degree in Engineering or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 5 years practical working experience in a relevant field.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of procedures, processes, equipment and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of CSA N 285.0, CSA N 299 and CSA N286-05 and ASME codes.
  • Good understanding of relevant CANDU systems, and retube technology.
  • Good knowledge to write procedures and review documents on a technical level.
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and effectiveness in interpersonal relationships.
  • Basic computing skills and functionality with standard Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
