To meet the increasing demand of our expertise in the Minerals and Metals industry, now we have opportunities for Control and Instrumentation (C&I) Engineers with experience ranging from 08 – 12 years in C&I design and development to join the M&M team at our Mumbai office.

We are particularly interested in individuals with reasonable consultancy experience in C&I design and development, sound knowledge of Field Instrumentation, Cable Engineering, Automation System, P&ID, Control Philosophy. Experience in M&M industry is desirable, but not essential, particularly with suitable demonstration of experience in a highly regulated industry (e.g., Oil and Gas).

How will you contribute to the team?

The work is varied and may include some or all the responsibilities mentioned below:

  • Leading various projects from Instrumentation, Automation and Telecommunication engineering side.
  • Contract Study, MTO Comparison, Preparation of Document Control Index, Schedule of purchase.
  • Preparation of Instrument Design Basis, Automation system Design Basis.
  • Interface with other disciplines for preparation of P&IDs, Electrical Buildings, Piping and Equipment GA, Cable Tray Layouts, Water and Utility requirements, Civil Assignments for various rooms, cabins, control room building and structural steel requirement.
  • Heat Load Data, Power Consumption etc.
  • Preparation of conceptual and detail design of various electromechanical packages, in bid stage and engineering stage.
  • Development of technical write up, MTO, Scope Matrix, Document List in various PFS, FS, Tender stage of engineering projects.
  • Participation in HAZOP, SIL Study workshop.
  • Development of Automation and Communication systems architecture, Control Narrative.
  • Selection of Instruments and Valves based on Process Applications and Hazardous Area Classifications.
  • Preparation of input/output list, instrument list, Datasheets of various types of instruments, analysers and valves, functional specifications, Power distribution design basis.
  • Preparation of Bill of Materials of Instruments, Valves, Automation Systems, Hook Up Items etc.
  • Cable engineering and estimation of various types of cables, JBs, Trays, Conduits, PDBs etc.
  • Preparation of purchase requisition of various Instruments, Valves, Automation System, Communication systems, Cables, JB, Trays, Conduits, Erection hardware etc.
  • Technical offer evaluation and TBE preparation of various types of Instruments, Valves, Automation and Telecomm Systems etc.
  • Approval of vendor drawings/documents for various Instrumentation, automation, telecommunication systems and electromechanical packages.
  • Liaising with all stakeholders and responsible for all technical issues related to their area of specialization; Co-ordination with other discipline specialists where areas interface or overlap exist.
  • Preparation or review of loop wiring diagrams, cabling schematics, schedules with interconnections, technical risk assessments, and commissioning strategies.
  • Preparation of Instrument, JB, PDB, Telecomm systems location drawings.
  • Estimation of costs and delivery of the work packages within required timescales.
  • Departmental standardisation activities.
  • Fluency in English language is desirable. Knowing Portuguese or Spanish will be an added advantage.

What will you contribute? 

  • Instrumentation Engineers are professionals who can apply engineering principles, physics and materials science for the analysis, design, installation, and maintenance of process driven systems.
  • Lead and/or Reviewer function for instrumentation and Automation in projects during all project phases.
  • Cost control of engineering (target/actual - comparison regarding hourly consumption/ external costs).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation Engineering is required.
  • 08 - 12 yrs. of experience in M&M or other highly regulated industrial environment are preferred.
  • Development of Junior Engineers.
  • Sound knowledge of International Standards.
  • A flair for solving complex problems and the ability to deliver multiple projects simultaneously in defined time schedules.
  • Proven computer aptitude, and expertise in MS office; knowledge of AutoCAD is desirable. 3D software knowledge.
  • Entrepreneurship, Disciplined, Organised, Strong Interpersonal skills and decisiveness. 
  • Ability to work independently or as part of team, flexible attitude to the type of work and the level of responsibility accepted.
  • Customer Oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills with a proven ability to write accurate, detailed, and concise technical reports.
  • Flexible to relocate and in travelling to AtkinsRéalis’ and client’s office locations around the world, as required.
  • Red Flagging in case of time and other problems.
  • Tracking of used hours.
  • Manage communication with other disciplines - Interface for instrumentation to other disciplines and project/engineering management, purchasing, suppliers and customer (international).
  • Solving complex design challenges.
  • Keeping up to date with the latest engineering regulations.
  • Liaising with suppliers, clients, and contractors.
  • Analysing and interpreting data and information.
  • Recommending modifications for systems.
