How will you contribute to the team?

  • Provide project scheduling and cost estimating support to Project Managers to help meet contract schedules and budgets and/or assist in the research and review of data for construction claims analyses.
  • Prepares construction cost estimates for design projects by analyzing quantity take off's, pricing, and contract specifications.
  • Develops estimates, change orders and reports for management's cost/scheduling projections.
  • Prepares daily/weekly project budget and schedules for various department managers.
  • Prepares construction critical path schedules using contractor experience production rates to determine accurate duration of activities.
  • Updates project estimates as needed.
  • Prepares miscellaneous reports and correspondence to support project managers in the development of contract change orders, manpower allocation plans, etc.
  • May research, compile and review data for construction claims analyses.
  • May perform such other duties as the Supervisor may from time to time deem necessary.
  • Complexity (Variety or uniqueness of tasks; relative difficulty or importance of work performed; size of unit supported, etc.): Work involves research, coordination and analysis of information gathered from various sources.
  • Decision-making (Supervision received; independent judgment or initiative; consequence of error): Work is performed under the general supervision of a senior estimator/scheduler, project or program manager, consistently applying independent judgment in the preparation of estimates and schedules, determining resources required and technical approach to complete assigned tasks.
  • Work directions given to others (Titles and number of personnel; type of direction given): May coordinate with and/or guide the work of junior professionals, technicians, and others who assist in specific assignments.
  • Internal contacts (Required interaction/relationship with others within the organization): Interfaces with senior technical professionals and technical managers.
  • External contacts (Required interaction/relationship with others outside the organization): Occasional contact with vendors, contractors and/or clients.

What will you contribute?

  • Bachelor's degree in related technical discipline plus five years' relevant experience, or two years' experience since Master's degree.
  • Proficient in utilizing all MS Office applications and relevant estimating software. Demonstrated expertise in identifying discrepancies and preventing calculation and reporting errors.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of building systems, laboratories, MEPS (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Structural), infrastructure, as well as construction benchmark pricing and validation.
  • No certifications required at this level.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills to identify budget and schedule risks, with the ability to provide advice on value engineering.
  • Must be highly articulate, have clear and analytical approach to problem solving, and strong decision-making abilities.
  • Must have excellent communication and presentation skills necessary to interface with external engineering, architectural and construction firms, suppliers, the management team and other organizations within client organizations.
  • Experience with Primavera or Microsoft Projects is preferred. Should have working knowledge of electronic takeoff including CAD Measure and working knowledge of a commercially available construction cost estimating system.
  • Must have strong cost management, scheduling, and project planning and estimating skills.
  • Must be able to use A/E and CM cost and/or schedule information to evaluate project status.
  • Must have experience in developing budgets, cash flows, and/or schedules. Working knowledge of industry standard software, including but not limited to SAP, OracleUnifer and ERP, Planning & Scheduling, and cost management applications. Ability to perform mathematical calculations, to understand contract plans and specifications, organize information, and effectively utilize PC and applicable software.

  • Ability to process paper/electronic documents and utilize plotter and computer equipment; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Ability to assemble and analyze data.

Expected compensation range is between $120,000 - 135,000 annually depending on skills, experience, and geographical location.
