We have one of the most experienced environmental engineering consulting teams in Canada and we are seeking an Environmental Project Coordinator to join our Site Assessment & Remediation team in Northern British Columbia team.  The successful candidate will bring well developed organizational skills to provide support to project teams on a variety of client portfolios in the region.  They will be responsible for coordination, execution, tracking and reporting for a diverse range of environmental projects, including assessment, remediation and reclamation, across a variety of industries.

How will you contribute to the team?

Specific duties related to this position vary depending on level of experience. To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Coordinating project execution, including developing work plans, preparing cost estimates, engaging and managing subcontractors,  tracking costs, reviewing analytical data and preparing reports for review.
  • Preparing detailed scopes of work for field programs, scheduling and coordinating field personnel, leading and tracking field program execution, and reviewing field document packages.
  • Preparing regular update reports for project managers and clients, including project progress against budget and schedule.
  • Mentoring and training environmental professionals and technical staff in the execution of field activities, and selected project coordination tasks.
  • Understanding client objectives, technical protocols, guidelines and regulations that apply to the work/projects conducted and the rationale/developmental framework behind them.
  • Identifying project quality/project profitability risks and liabilities, and working with project managers to minimize them.
  • Ensuring proper implementation and continued use of quality assurance programs and corporate policies and procedures, including Ethics and Compliance.
  • Embracing behavior-based safety and ensuring all health and safety protocols are followed.
  • Other duties as assigned/required.

What will you contribute?

  • 4 to 7 years of practical, progressive environmental consulting experience, encompassing project coordination, project execution and contractor supervision, with emphasis in the areas of contaminated site assessment, groundwater monitoring and sampling and remediation.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in field activities related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA), including various drilling techniques, soil sample collection and logging, groundwater monitoring and sampling techniques, soil vapour sampling, remedial excavations, spill response and quality assurance / quality control protocols.
  • Solid knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal environmental standards, regulations and guidelines as they apply to environmental investigation and remediation projects in British Columbia (and other parts of Canada as applicable on a project specific basis).
  • Candidates with experience working in multiple settings, both geographically and industrially (e.g., upstream, midstream, and downstream for the oil and gas sector, as well as others) are preferred.
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to manage time and multiple deliverables accordingly.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proven technical writing and communication skills.
  • Commitment to excellence with a focus on quality control, quality management and attention to detail; and English proficiency in reading and writing, with bilingualism in French an asset.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are licensed as a certified professional.
  • Must be located in British Columbia, preferably in Prince George, Fort St John or Terrace.
