The Environment division of SNC-Lavalin Inc. is a rapidly growing full-service consulting firm that is dedicated to responding to the changing needs of our clients.  We are committed to providing solutions driven environmental services to assist clients in planning, managing and conducting their projects. Our growing organization is seeking like-minded individuals to join our Contaminated Site Assessment, Remediation and Reclamation team.

With the above vision in mind, SNC-Lavalin is looking for career-oriented, intermediate-level project staff in our Calgary or Edmonton office

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Historical data review and subsequent site inspections.
  • Groundwater monitoring and sampling.
  • Hydraulic conductivity testing.
  • Surface soil and water sampling.
  • Soil vapour sampling.
  • Supervision of drilling activities.
  • Installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
  • Supervision of remedial excavations.
  • Photographic and written documentation of site activities.
  • Communication with on-site personnel and Project Manager.
  • Assist in communicating and building relationships with clients.
  • Promoting Health and Safety programs and culture.
  • Working as a team with other regions as opportunities arise.

What will you contribute?

  • Diploma or Degree from a program with relevant subject matter.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience encompassing project coordination and project execution, and contractor supervision with emphasis in the areas of contaminated site assessment, groundwater monitoring and sampling and remediation.
  • Demonstrated technical skills in field activities related to Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESA) including groundwater monitoring and sampling techniques, various drilling techniques, soil sample collection and logging, soil vapour sampling, remedial excavations, spill response and quality assurance / quality control protocols.
  • Candidates with experience working in multiple settings, both geographically and industrially (e.g., upstream, midstream, and downstream for the oil and gas sector, as well as others) are preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Self-motivated, high energy, strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Willing to undertake field work year-round and travel throughout Western Canada, at times for extended periods (weeks).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Capable of understanding and appropriately applying prescribed safety and technical protocols.
  • Candidates must possess a Valid Class 5 Full driver’s license with a clean driving record.
