Intermediate Mechanical Equipment and Piping Designer/Drafter

AtkinsRéalis is looking for an Intermediate Mechanical Equipment and Piping Designer/Drafter with mechanical design experience in heavy industrial sector including, but not limited to, Hydro Power Generation (balance-of-plant systems, hydromechanical equipment and HVAC) and Power Transmission and Distribution.

Location – Vancouver (BC) 

Roles and responsibilities:

• Operation and management of CAD software, primarily Revit and AutoCAD.

• Detail designing and modelling of systems including, but not limited to, the following.

  • HVAC systems and ducting.

  • Piping systems, valves, and instrumentation.

  • Pipe rack and pipe supports.

  • Storage tanks.

  • Material handling equipment

  • Process equipment such as pumps, strainers, etc.

• Detail drafting and modelling of hydromechanical equipment, cranes, and hoists.

• Reviewing standards, codes, guidelines for design and drafting requirements.

• Performing vendor and/or construction drawing reviews.

• Producing engineering drawing packages for final checking and review, including:

  • Facility general arrangement (aboveground and underground).

  • HVAC drawings

  • 2D or 3D piping drawings.

  • Piping support drawings.

  • Bill of materials (BOM).

• Preparing final project record (as-built) drawings.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience (industrial, mechanical).

• Demonstrated knowledge in design and production of engineering drawings specially in hydropower industry.

• Solid command of Revit is mandatory and strong proficiency of other 3D software is desired (CADmep, AutoCAD, AutoPLANT, SolidWorks). Preference will be given to candidates who have Revit MEP experience with previous multi-discipline BIM project execution using this software.

• Knowledge of BIM related software (Navisworks, BIM360, ReCap).

• Strong working knowledge of heavy mechanical equipment in hydropower industry, and of HVAC and/or piping systems is considered an asset.

Compensation Range:  

Expected compensation for this role is between $68,900 - $114,800 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, location, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
