Junior Mechanical Engineer

This is a unionized position and open to internal as well as external candidates.

The Mechanical Design branch of Retube, Inspection and, Manufacturing Systems (RIMS) Engineering Department are responsible for the design, manufacturing and, refurbishment of Retube and Field Services tools, as well as support of field operations.

Duties:

The work includes but is not limited to:

  • Contribute as a member of a team that provides engineering design and analysis including preparation of design documentation in the area of the mechanical design of retube and field services tooling and tooling upgrades.
  • Prepare a broad range of documentation including but not limited to design requirements, technical specifications, assessment documents, performance analysis, design manuals, installation and commissioning documents.
  • Collect, review, analyze, and implement OPEX’s from site.
  • Provide detailed planning and budgeting information to management and to projects.
  • Ensure that the design is conducted in accordance with quality assurance requirements for safety-related systems, components and, structural systems in accordance with the applicable codes and that the necessary design verification activities are carried out.
  • Provide site services and support to Life Extension and Field Services Projects.
  • Perform design activities for the various refurbishment projects.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines as required.
  • Assist in timely and quality project delivery.
  • Assist team lead in day to day engineering activities and coordination.

Qualification & Skills:

  • Engineering degree from a university of recognized standing. Though being a licensed Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario is not a requirement at this level, but it is expected that engineering license will be obtained within two years.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tactfully communicate with team members, internal customers and suppliers.
  • Must be able to read and interpret Engineering drawings.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment requiring multitasking, problem solving, analytical and project management skills. Able to work prioritize and work tight deadlines.
