Manager, Process & Performance Improvement

The Manager, Process & Performance Improvement is a member of the Engineering Excellence team, responsible for establishing a fit-for-purpose engineering work process, with a focus on continuous improvement and meeting required governance.

This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.

Your role within the team:

  • Overseeing the development of design work processes and applicable procedures, ensuring that engineering activities are performed in accordance with approved policies, standards, programs, procedures, and applicable rules, regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Supporting governance and oversight to ensure project consistency in organizational alignment, processes, and procedures.
  • Developing and implementing a continuous improvement framework that fosters a culture of learning, innovation, and performance enhancement.
  • Leveraging advanced analytics and data-driven decision-making to optimize engineering workflows.
  • Utilizing process mapping and modeling tools to visualize and streamline complex engineering procedures.
  • Identifying automation and digital transformation initiatives to increase the speed and accuracy of engineering processes.
  • Conducting regular performance assessments and process benchmarking to ensure best practices and industry standards are implemented.
  • Interfacing with all process stakeholders, including Engineering, Project Delivery, Quality Assurance, and the Office of the Chief Engineer.

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience managing projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring is an asset.
  • University Degree or College Diploma in engineering, or equivalent field of study.
  • Continuous learning in process improvement.
  • Ten (10) years’ experience (minimum) working in a project delivery environment, including 3 years in a process improvement role.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in a Province of Canada, member in good standing, is an asset.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is an asset.
  • Security Clearance with Public Services and Procurement Canada is a condition of employment.
  • In depth understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Ability to analyze performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Working knowledge in Lean, Six Sigma, and/or Agile methodologies is an asset.
  • Strong leadership skills, with an ability to manage and implement change effectively within a well-established, mature organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly, with strong interpersonal skills in collaboration and conflict resolution.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on innovation and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Tech savvy in enterprise and commercial applications.
  • Proven track record of performance in a dynamic, project delivery environment is an asset.
