We are hiring Planning Engineers at all levels who will play a central role in making exciting and diverse projects a reality. Valued up to £100m, your projects will range across the construction sector. You'll be trusted to spearhead your team, knowing we all want you to succeed, and are ready to help you develop further. Your Purpose:

• Drive the overall integrated P6 programme to meet the internal/external reporting timelines for assigned work areas.
• Liaise with Project Managers to maintain programme schedules and manage the interface between schedules.
• Provide hierarchical performance reporting to inform processes such as Earned Value Management.
• Correlate Schedule, Cost and Risk assessments through integrated solutions to influence critical path inspection, thus providing robust/quality plans for decision-making.
• Lead in "what-if" scenario planning, providing integrated solutions to programme/project conflicts and recoveries.
• Provide detailed scrutiny of contractors’ programmes.
• Lead and monitor processes to integrate scheduling across all projects within the work area.
• Support the Project Controls Manager in baseline management and ad hoc business requirements.
• Lead on contractor requirements working with Delivery and Procurement teams.
• Collaborate with Project Delivery teams, specialist Client Directorates and external stakeholders (including suppliers and regulatory bodies) as required to integrate all time, cost and quality information to support the monitoring of project progress.
• Support the Head of Planning and Project Controls Managers in leading the Planners in setting objectives, reviewing performance and participating in selection/promotion decisions to ensure that Planners have the necessary skills and understanding to deliver the team's objectives.
• Capture, implement and share best practice Project Planning policy, processes and procedures across the business to drive continuous improvement and provide specialist advice where required.

What you can bring:

• A recognised degree or similar professional qualification or equivalent experience, with a track record of achievement in Planning and Project Management within large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
• Experience in leading teams of professionals in a complex business environment.
• Construction Project Planning expertise gained across a range of large, complex, multi-disciplinary projects, with a sound understanding of Project Management concepts and applications.
• Understanding commercial elements within large, complex projects and a track record of achievement in driving value within complex projects.
• Good understanding of programme contractual requirements, including NEC clauses.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively engage, promote and influence across a large range of stakeholders, including the Executive and internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to integrate and analyse complex data from several sources to compile reviews and reports for internal and external distribution and presentation.
• Knowledge of project and programme planning systems, processes and lifecycles, including Project Management and MS Office packages or equivalent.
• Experience in heading teams of professionals in a complex business environment.

Business Development:

• Support with the Project Controls business development activity.
• Support with the review of our Key Account Management Plans for all key clients.
• Monitor and manage Project Controls activity and associated expenditures within your remit.
• Generate high-quality leadership material for use on the website & in the market.
• Secure year-on-year margin improvement on project delivery.
• Further develop our off-shore capability, including managing their use on project delivery.

Monitor and control compliance with all key metrics, including (but not limited to):

• Project Health Checks.
• Risk register review and updates.
• Utilisation.
• PSR Completion.
• Timesheets.

Account management:

• Support the account management team to maximise our impact.
• Enhance the reputation of our business.
• Increase our share of the client’s spend.
• Exploit opportunities for cross-selling our full spectrum of services & locations.
• Leading interfaces with design and engineering elements of our business.
• Upskilling others and providing career growth opportunities.
• Drive high levels of client satisfaction.

Project leadership:

• Having leadership skills necessary to direct and manage the project team having responsibility, under minimum supervision, delivering portfolios and projects.
• Be the ambassador for Faithful+Gould, your profession and the professional institution to which you belong.
• Providing guidance and technical advice to different stakeholders, including effectively chairing meetings.
• Clear understanding and capability in project commercial accountability.

Technical leadership:

• Actively broaden your experience and expertise in line with the core expertise.
• Have an up-to-date and developing knowledge of legal and technical matters relevant to your work and the law of the region or country where you practise.
• Participating in relevant internal/external training initiatives.
• Applying the principles of quality assurance and environmental management.
• Managing the client relationship and service delivery.

Team building and management:

• Managing and helping grow our service and sector-focused teams.
• Mentoring and developing your team.

Attributes:

• Proven track record of leading projects for or on behalf of local or national transportation clients.
• Proven track record of working in a consultancy environment, delivering exceptional projects and managing teams.
• Degree qualified in a construction or finance-related field.
• Preferably Chartered with RICS, ICE, AACE, ACostE, MAPM or similar.
