The AtkinsRéalis Training Services team is looking to hire a talented and experienced Principal Training Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity to spearhead the Training Services team and develop and shape the Training consultancy capability across our current and expanding markets.

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced principal training consultant who can lead complex defence and safety-critical projects that include the research, analysis, design, delivery, and evaluation of training solutions. You will have a proven track record of directing a team and conducting and delivering all elements of Training Needs Analysis (TNA) where a Systematic Approach to Training (SAT) process is employed. Specifically, you will have demonstrable experience of conducting all aspects of TNAs in accordance with JSP 822 – Defence Systematic Approach to Training (DSAT).

This role can be based out of one of our regional, UK Based, AtkinsRéalis offices. However, candidates should note that the Training Services team is based in our Bristol office, close to our key clients, so the flexibility to travel will be essential.

Your responsibilities:

Principal Consultants lead all aspects of client-facing training activity (commercial, delivery, advice, and assurance) across a range of MOD & safety-critical domains and are expected to run regular interactions with clients. They will be able to demonstrate previous experience and practical application of applying training methodology and processes on training projects of varying degrees of complexity. They will also possess extensive stakeholder experience, understanding of research techniques and the application of survey methodology. You will also have responsibility to guide, direct, mentor and support senior/junior and seek opportunities to expand and enhance the AtkinsRéalis integrated training offering both internally and externally.

Essential Skills:

  • Oversee and author high quality analytical reports which comply with industry/MOD standards.
  • Demonstrates detailed knowledge of a SAT or ADDIE training methodology typically described by JSP 822.
  • Experienced in technically assuring / developing and implementing complex training programmes and strategies.
  • Oversee the delivery of all elements of specific and collective Defence Training Needs Analysis (TNA) projects using the DSAT process.
  • Development and assurance of training materials and support the development of technology enabled solutions.
  • Supervise senior consultants/consultants/associates/junior consultants on larger projects.
  • Significant and effective stakeholder engagement skills to support clients with the implementation of capability management processes and systems.
  • Lead training evaluation and assessment activities.

Qualifications and experience required:

  • Ability to lead tasks, working alongside the client to define and deliver work packages and deliverables.
  • Thorough understanding and demonstrable application of SAT/ADDIE policies and processes from Analysis to Evaluation.
  • Project manage multiple training research, analysis, and design requirements.
  • Individual and Collective training consultancy experience within UK Defence/Industry.
  • A working knowledge of Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) structures and responsibilities is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience of the production and quality/technical assurance of formal TNA outputs.
  • Experience of the design of training materials using a SAT compliant methodology.
  • Knowledge and understanding of latest technology enhanced media to support the delivery of effective training.
  • Successful in establishing strong and effective working relationships with customers and colleagues.
  • Commercially astute and can drive technical input on training approach, methodology and costs in support of proposals.
  • Organized, able to multi-task, prioritize, work to deadlines, and manage changing requirements.
  • Self-motivating, proactive and possessing strong initiative coupled with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Degree educated, preferable in an Engineering or Learning & Development related subject.
