Project Director - Retail Business Construction

We are currently looking for experts to join our team in Mumbai, India, to provide multi-disciplinary services and expertise to our clients working on a high end / large size showroom and industrial units. The work will involve project management, engineering, and procurement and construction supervision and we’re looking for people at all levels, in particular the role defined below.

To lead the project we need an experienced Project Director to be based in Mumbai, India to manage the end to end process of a large scale project.

Desired Skills & Experience

The candidate should have a Degree or a Master’s Degree qualifications in an Engineering or Construction related discipline and a minimum of 20 years work experience in India and Overseas of managing large scale / high end projects (mix of contractor and project management consultancy experience is desired) of International retail show room and industrial units.

This person is responsible for at least the following areas and duties in this role:

  • Client and Stakeholder Management
  • Design Management and Approvals Processes
  • Construction  Management
  • Contract Administration
  • Risk Management
  • Operator liaison
  • Procurement/Tendering
  • Planning and Programme overview and Progress Reporting.
  • Site & Logistics Management
  • People & Resource Management

This position requires professional ability, excellent communication skills and an inherent self-motivation. The candidate will have the skills required to be client facing, direct meetings, negotiate with General Contractor’s Project Directors and Managers, introduce discussion to encourage thinking on the wider commercial context and be responsible for the tasks assigned to members of the project team.

This person is expected to:

  • Establish and document the overall project management plan (PMP)
  • Manage the pre-and post-contract phases to deliver within the key project performance criteria
  • Coordinate with the Engineers and the General Contractor in execution of the construction phase and achieving contract deliverables and outcomes within fundamental parameters of time, quality and cost.
  • Apply quality management principles and processes
  • Ensure full coordination and effective implementation of Health, Safety & Environmental processes and protocols.
  • Apply risk assessment and management principles and processes
  • Network effectively, negotiate well and influence people, broker relationships with stakeholders within the project
  • Be aware of the development goals of the Client and the implications the construction will have on business operations of the completed project. management in the future.
  • Be aware of the broader environmental, social and economic perspectives and how they may affect the project
  • Provide leadership and support to the project team.
