Our Road & Utilities engineering team is looking for a Engineering Specialist, Civil to join our growing team. Act as a Deputy Project Manager on municipal road design projects, developing skills and gaining experience in project management. This role offers a clear path to becoming a Project Manager in the future, providing opportunities to lead projects and manage teams. As a member of our Roads & Utilities Group in the Engineering, Design and Project Management Division for Central Canada, you will be working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment. In addition to road and utility design, you will have exposure to structural, traffic, environmental, geotechnical, foundations, geomatics, rail and electrical design during the course of our design assignments.
Your role within the team
- Lead the design of road infrastructure projects with an emphasis on municipal clients within the Greater Toronto Area.
- Develop engineering designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, specifications, bid documents, engineering directives, and other data, according to client specifications for municipal road and highway infrastructure projects.
- Design and prepare geometric alignments, roadway plans, profiles, cross sections, intersections, earthworks, roadside safety, storm drainage systems, and underground services.
- Prepare reports, calculations, technical memos, and meeting minutes.
- Provide engineering services during construction activities including reviewing shop drawings for conformance with specifications, response to inquiries, and resolve construction issues.
- Support project managers with proposal writing, business development, and client-based support.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, design leads and/or construction personnel.

The ideal candidate
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and licensed Ontario Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
- Minimum of 10 year's experience in civil engineering design and project engineering in municipal roads and/or highways including preliminary and detailed design, drawings, cost estimate, specifications, and contract documents.
- A strong client-service focus and familiarity with transportation design standards and guidelines in Ontario with an emphasis on municipal clients and approving agencies within the Greater Toronto Area. Experience conducting road construction site inspections would be an asset.
- Experienced with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads, MS Office including MS Project.
- Excellent time management and organization skills, work on multiple projects to meet established deadlines, ability to work under pressure, and demonstrated problem solving ability. Valid Class G Driver’s License is required.
