Atkins’ Transportation is our Centre of excellence for the design of highway and rail infrastructure projects. We aim to be the first-choice designer for local and national highway authorities, contractors and developers.

We are working on several high-profile projects and frameworks nationwide, including Cambridge to Huntingdon A14 upgrade, the Smart Motorways programme, Highways England Regional Investment Programme schemes, and HS2. We have also recently been successful in securing work through the Routes to Market Delivery Integration Partner Framework for Highways England.

To meet our growth ambitions, we are seeking a Health and Safety Team Coordinator, responsible for providing administrative support to an expanding senior team of project safety advisors so that our project responsibilities are delivered on time and within budget.

The role can be based in Birmingham or the South East and be expected to work as part of a team with our other health and safety professionals across the UK.

Responsibilities:

Administrative:

• To provide administrative support to key project staff
• Ability to engage with all levels within organization
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to produce good quality documentation, and provide a good 'customer' service
• General project administration, including arrangement of meetings, booking meeting rooms, and attendance as required to take minutes
• Assist the Project Managers with collection and submission of KPI data
• To book accommodation and travel for the project management team
• To communicate effectively with project staff and clients when required.
• Arranging training for project staff and maintain a register of competencies and re-training dates
• Assist in producing Monthly Reports, Trackers etc and ensure standard templates are available

Health & Safety:

• Report to QSSE Manager regarding all H&S matters
• Provide effective and efficient advice and support to QSE
• Work with the QSE team such as advisors/ SHE experts when enquiries need to be escalated
• Attend events, conferences, meetings and projects related training and play an active role in raising the profile of Atkins aims and objectives.


Essential Skills:

• Microsoft Excel - advanced level, in order to manipulate data for reporting purposes
• Microsoft Word - intermediate level, to create written communications and reports
• Microsoft Outlook - intermediate level, to organise, respond to and archive incoming and outgoing messages
• Attention to detail - accurate and methodical when producing reports and written communications
• Team Player - willingly co-operate and support all team members, appreciate being part of the Project Management team
• Communication Skills - communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external customers in a professional manner
• Customer Focussed - willingly deal with any Customer query within the role
• Organised - must show the ability to prioritise workload to achieve daily tasks and ensure deadlines are met

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
