Regional Principal, Architecture

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Regional Principal of Architecture to help develop and grow the architecture business unit for Eastern Canada. This pivotal role requires a blend of leadership, strategic vision, and technical expertise to deliver exceptional architectural solutions that meet client needs and uphold our standards of quality and sustainability.

The ideal candidate will have a university degree or diploma preferrably from a recognized architectural program in Canada, along with at least 10+ years of experience with architectural projects related to Institutional and high-performance facilities such as healthcare, life-sciences, industrial and transportation. A Master Planning background would also be beneficial.

Your role within the team:

Leadership and Management:

  • Provide leadership for the architectural discipline, hire and develop a team of architects and designers.
  • Development and implementation of architectural strategies and standards.
  • Ensure team productivity, motivation, and adherence to project timelines and budgets.
  • Business Development - responding to RFQs and RFPs 

Project Oversight:

  • Lead and manage complex architectural projects from concept through completion.
  • Ensure projects meet client requirements, quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g., engineering, construction, marketing) to align project goals and deliverables.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and understanding of project scope and progress.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and external partners.
  • Address client inquiries and concerns, providing innovative solutions to design challenges.

Innovation and Design:

  • Drive architectural innovation by exploring new technologies, materials, and design methodologies.
  • Develop creative, sustainable, and cost-effective architectural solutions.
  • Maintain artistic and technical competency in architectural design and trends.

Quality Assurance:

  • Implement and enforce quality control measures throughout the design and construction process.
  • Review and approve architectural plans, specifications, and materials.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and industry standards.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
    • Valid architecture license in Canada.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a licensed architect.
    • At least 5 years of experience in a leadership or management role.
    • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale architectural projects relating to healthcare, life-sciences, industrial and transportation.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proficiency in architectural design software.
    • Ability to develop and implement architectural strategies and standards.
    • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong understanding of local regulatory requirements.
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
    • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Strong client relationship management skills.
