The Senior Electrical Engineer will provide senior level technical direction, mentoring, and input to junior and intermediate staff, contribute to management initiatives, and serve as a key contact with clients.  Experience in a discipline lead or PM role with MTO projects is required, in addition to liaising with regulatory agencies, networking with other professionals and developing new business.

Location – Toronto, ON.

Your role within the team:

• Manage the highway electrical design components of both stand-alone and multidisciplinary projects through all stages of the project life cycle from proposal through initiation to project close out in Ontario, leading a team of engineers, designers, other disciplines and consultants as required on a project basis to meet MTO requirements for illumination, traffic signals and other electrical elements of highway design and operation.
• Maintain project budgets, schedules, risk registers and communications with project team, client staff and project stakeholders
• Provide senior-level technical guidance and management skills to manager, mentor and grow the transportation electrical design team.
• Ensure all deliverables meet client requirements and all applicable standards, codes and regulations
• Maintain required quality system standards and procedures, and embrace and actively support behaviour-based workplace health and safety policies

The ideal candidate:

• Possess strong credentials as an electrical engineering design lead and Project Manager in Ontario, having credibility with the Ministry of Transportation, Ontario (MTO) and ability to be approved for RAQS Electrical Engineering specialties Electrical Development, Major Electrical Work and Minor Electrical Work.
• Minimum 15 years as a licensed engineer with experience in Ontario highway and roadway electrical projects design, including both illumination and traffic signals, ITS expertise an asset.
• Minimum 5 years recent experience for highway electrical design projects including preparation of tenders and specifications, being recognized as Project Manager by MTO
• Proven expertise with standard highway electrical design tools including AutoCAD, MicroStation, AGI32 and other photometric analysis tools, MTO CPS, and other relevant industry-standard tools
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction and correspondence with design team, clients, colleagues, consultants and stakeholders.
• Licensed as a P.Eng. in Ontario with a valid driver’s license and vehicle
