JOB DESCRIPTION    

Product Manager role working primarily across the Smart City Platform (SCP). The candidate will be working directly with critical stakeholders and providing oversight and support to the remainder of the team. The candidate will be assigned to an important project under the Smart City program and will have the opportunity to contribute to building the initial operating capability of the smart city.

The key responsibilities for the role include

• Serve as the main focal point between the business team and the vendor assigned to the project.

• Support in overseeing the evolution of the product into a mature level in terms of functionality.

• Support in holding technical discussion meetings with the vendor in coordination with the project manager.

• Support in reviewing the vendor’s deliverables and ensure compliance with scope and contractual requirements and provide recommendations on the quality of submitted deliverables.

• Managing the delivery of the solution produced by the vendor, challenge the output and support on technical discussions.

• Support in co-designing new use cases in collaboration with different departments and ensuring their needs are fulfilled.

• Support in defining and enforcing the project governance among relevant parties.

• Drafting reports (both internal and external) and executive level presentations

• Identify and liaise with relevant and critical stakeholders (internal and external) who will need to be consulted for SCP related matters.

• Lead the project delivery alongside the project manager, and support in identifying risks and issues and proposing corrective actions.

• Monitor and report on the project progression as per the planned schedule Challenge the vendor on its performance.

Required Skills and expertise:

• At least 13+ years of experience in a Smart City Advisory / Technology Consulting role or a relevant position with transferable skills.

• Bachelor’s degree in telecom, computer engineering or computer science (with a focus on smart city). Master’s degree in engineering and/or business management is a plus.

• Certificates related to smart city platform (SCP) development & operation is a plus.

• Solid understanding in all phases of smart city and digital transformation projects

• Solid understanding with Smart Cities requirements in a Master Planning and Urban Design context and processes, with national or regional government entities and/or with property and infrastructure developers

• Familiar on the technical level with the component of an SCP including its seven layer and how they integrate (i.e., ingestion, data lake, enablers etc. up to the application layer)

• Knowledge of data management and ingestion is a must.

• Familiar with the data integration requirements with other subsystems such as but not limited to field devices.

• Experience in product management and how to evolve it and build a road map accordingly.

• Ability to transform the high-level functional requirements to the technical requirements that needs to be implemented to make it happen.

• Ability to lead on technical discussion with the vendor.

• Proven ability to work in a customer facing/consulting environment. Strong Presentation skills

• Experience delivering projects through all phases of the lifecycle. Knowledge of agile project management practice

• Strong appreciation of the ‘Smart Cities Landscape’ in the Middle East and have networks within the supply chain/vendor environment.

• Strong analytical skills, creativity, and communication skills to encourage clients to execute their digital roadmap.
