We are seeking a Senior NEPA Planner or Project Manager to join our NEPA planning Team in Nashville, TN. In this position, you will assist our team in resecuring rewarding work with TNDOT and support the work we have with GDOT, NCDOT, and other state, regional, and local transportation agencies. This position will provide career growth opportunities through management of projects and/or staff, depending on the career trajectory you desire.

What will you contribute?

The ideal candidate for this position will apply their knowledge of the NEPA, planning, state, and federal regulatory processes to manage and contribute to our GDOT and NCDOT projects, as well as various transportation NEPA projects in TN and other types of NEPA projects around the country. The candidate will prepare or coordinate the preparation of all levels of NEPA planning documents and technical studies and provide quality assurance/quality control of NEPA and planning documents prepared by in-house staff or outside consultants. The candidate also will coordinate with resource and environmental permitting agencies, local stakeholders, and members of the public.

Additional skills desired include strong task management skills, effective communication skills, and be able to work successfully in both collaborative and self-directed settings. The exceptional candidate will have experience with TNDOT.

The qualified candidate will have with experience with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in planning or a related field, Master’s degree is a plus.

  • 8-10 years of experience with a demonstrated working knowledge of NEPA, including coordination of supporting technical studies and schedule management.

  • Similar environmental consultation experience related to transportation projects or other projects (including projects with federal and state funding) preferred.

The preferred candidate will have experience with:

  • Preparation and review of NEPA and planning documents and oversight of documents prepared by other staff and consultants.

  • Coordination of in-house technical tasks for compliance with baseline schedules.

  • Evaluation of impacts from transportation projects on the built, cultural and natural environment.

  • Coordination with design professionals and overall project team to identify fatal flaws, schedule delays, opportunities for schedule acceleration or recovery, and opportunities to avoid or minimize impacts.

  • Providing leadership in project or task management roles.

  • Monitoring and complying with established quality control standards throughout projects.

Additional Qualifications

Aptitude for maintaining a professional attitude and attention to detail while working alone, within a team environment, and/or on multiple projects, simultaneously.

  • Excellent technical writing, computer, and verbal communication skills with clients and colleagues.

  • Strong organizational, task and time management, deductive reasoning, and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency with the MS Office suite of software, familiarity with schedule management software a plus.

  • Proficiency with Traffic Noise Modeling (TNM) is a plus.

  • Ability to visit project sites if necessary.

  • AICP Certification desired.

  • Local candidates are preferred for this position.

  • Eligible candidates must have a valid driver’s license.
