Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Develop space planning concepts and show sets and scene by scene attraction layouts
  • Develop creative concepts and visual treatments for show sets, including scenic elements, props, and architectural features, that enhance storytelling and create memorable guest experiences within the theme park environment.
  • Design and layout show sets within attraction spaces, considering guest flow, sightlines, safety regulations, and operational requirements to ensure that designs are not only aesthetically appealing but also functional and practical for implementation.
  • Select materials, finishes, and construction techniques that are suitable for the theme park setting, taking into account durability, maintenance requirements, budget constraints, and thematic authenticity to achieve a cohesive and immersive design.
  • Create detailed drawings, 3D models, renderings, and specifications that communicate design intent to fabrication teams, contractors, and vendors, providing clear guidance for the construction and installation of show sets according to design standards and project timelines.
  • Taking direction from senior creative staff, be the deign guardian of the asset development in BIM
  • Provide extensive design development at a schematic level and design development using 3D Revit models and other software.
  • Create and present schematic design assets insuring the guest experience
  • Provide project team coordination for finish plans, specifications, and material selections
  • Review IFC, Construction documents and coordinate any required revisions with outside consultants
  • Work with sub consultants, equipment manufacturers, product reps, and fabricators to meet overall project objectives
  • Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
  • Collaborate with internal/external disciplines to ensure that projects are completed accurately, within budget and on time
  • Responsible for ensuring that the quality of the Creative Design developed by AtkinsRéalis is maintained

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Scenic Design, Set Design, Architecture, or related field.
  • Proven experience (typically 8-10 years) in show set design for themed entertainment projects, with a strong portfolio showcasing creative and technical skills.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques, materials, and fabrication processes relevant to show set design.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and clients.
  • Knowledge of themed entertainment industry standards and trends is a plus.
