Atkins, Member of SNC-Lavalin have recently won a number of major projects wins including Croydon Area Signalling Renewals, Norwich Yarmouth Lowestoft and Lewes- Newhaven signalling projects etc.

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic self-starter to join our team as a Signalling Principles Designer. This role will be based at our Atkins office in Bangalore, IN & Gurgaon.IN.

Atkins has one of the UK Rail industry’s largest signalling engineering teams and as such you will be joining our Signalling Systems Practice in Global Design Centre which comprises a team of over 60 professional signalling design engineers / managers. This, together with Atkins broader cross discipline capability in GDC means our engineers have an unrivalled collective knowledge to tap into and learn from.

This role is that of a Signalling Principles Designer / Verifier reporting to a Signalling Design Manager.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Produce/Check signalling principles designs, specifications, reports and working drawings to meet contract requirements within agreed time-scales and performance parameters.
  • Understand and adhere to the safety and engineering culture of the organisation.
  • Actively engaging with winning work, and technically leading design estimation.
  • Assist with the identification and development of technical options to meet client requirements.
  • Resolving technical issues or raising to the appropriate authority for resolution with potential solutions
  • Leading / participating inter-disciplinary communication, activities and reviews.
  • Supporting the Design Manager to manage the engineering / design budget and supporting the project’s commercial objectives.
  • Assisting with project closeout and hand over of deliverables to the Client.
  • Supporting the collective learning of the organisation.
  • Co-operate with performance appraisals to develop your potential and identify opportunities for training and continuing professional development.
  • Assist in the development of technical policies.

What will you contribute?

Essential Qualifications and Experience-

  • Significant UK signalling principles design experience (schemes and / or Interlocking design).
  • Holds Current IRSE Signalling Principles Designer Licence 1.1.550.
  • Understanding of the Network Rail GRIP process for Signalling projects.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience-

  • Experience of undertaking Design CRE responsibilities on Network Rail infrastructure.
  • Incorporated Engineer / Chartered Engineer.
  • Full Corporate Member of the IRSE.

Essential Person Qualities-

  • Willing and able to learn.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Can do attitude and flexible.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with team members located in different offices.
  • Collaborative team player focused on results.
  • With design offices in Bangalore and Gurgaon we offer flexibility in location.
  • Diploma / Engineering Degree, preferably in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
  • Understanding of risk management, CDM and CSM.
  • IRSE Signalling Design Verifier Licence 1.1.160.
  • Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritise duties.
  • Innovative thinker and problem solve.
