We are hiring a  Systems Safety and Assurance Lead to join our growing team. This fulltime position can be based out of either Calgary, Alberta or Toronto, Ontario.

Your role within the Team:

  • Provide oversight and leadership for SESA management with a focus on ensuring the ‘best for project’ outcome.
  • Provide specialist advice on SESA to the City of Calgary, Contractors, and Stakeholders.
  • Lead the SESA team and manage SESA on the rail infrastructure project during the planning and delivery phase.
  • Ensure that the SESA activities are managed in compliance with the relevant standards, including IEEE 15288, EN 50126 Part 1 and 2.
  • Working with the Client and Stakeholders define the SESA plans and approach for achieving a successful outcome in SESA.
  • Participating in technical meetings where SESA representation is necessary, including design meetings, change management.
  • Coordinate with other departments and stakeholders to successfully resolve technical issues related to SESA.
  • Proactively work with package owners to execute the SESA strategy and ensure the integration management.
  • Drive collaboration with stakeholder through regular forums and working groups.
  • Provide updates against KPIs and participate in high level project reviews.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in systems engineering and systems assurance, with a focus on large-scale rail infrastructure projects.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in leading teams of engineers.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • In depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288 and CENELEC.
  • Hold a Professional License / Accreditation e.g., P Eng (or eligible).
  • Hold a relevant certification, such as the International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) Associate or Certified Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP or CSEP) designation, is desirable for this role.
