We are looking for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to provide post contract quantity surveying services to support the planning, delivery and close out of various Projects forming a major pharmaceutical client’s capital investment and maintenance programme.


Commercially aware you’ll work well as part of an integrated team and demonstrate the people management skills to support and mentor where required.



Responsibilities
• Management of small contracts with minimal supervision
• Contract administration of orders under established frameworks and term maintenance agreements
• Attendance at weekly coordination meetings
• Carrying out site measures
• Payment verification and approval
• Contract change evaluation and quantification
• Final account and contract close out

Requirements
• BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent degree
• Chartered (RICS) or working towards professional membership of the RICS
• Good organisational skills
• Motivated to drive and support continuous service improvement
• Close attention to detail
• Self-motivated and keen to become an integral office team member
• Self-disciplined

Experience
• Established knowledge and understanding of construction forms and techniques, including construction costs
• Industry, petrochemical, manufacturing sector experience (preferred)
• Understanding of working with contract documents including familiarity with contractual obligations, breaches and remedies
• Knowledge of and ability to advise clients on simple procurement options and consultant appointment issues
• General knowledge of current legal and regulatory developments in respect of construction and associated law

Skills
• Reliable mathematical ability and accuracy and
• Good standard of literacy and presentation skills
• Sound technical health, safety and environmental knowledge applicable to the construction industry
• Able to communicate confidently with colleagues, clients and clients’ contractors; verbally and in writing
• Great interpersonal skills, an ability to communicate effectively (both internally and with clients)
• Good IT skills; proficient in Microsoft Office and other role related software packages
• Able to make informed decisions and work unsupervised when necessary

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview
