CAD Technician (Building Services / Revit) - Glasgow

Atkins Building Design practice have a great opportunity for a CAD Technician with Revit skills to work within our successful Building Services Team in Glasgow.

The role offers an opportunity to work on engineering projects across a wide variety of sectors – including commercial, transportation, education, energy and urban regeneration – and to be part of a building services team working collaboratively with Structural Engineers, Architects and other building design professionals. We can offer good development options, including training in the latest 3D software that continues to transform the engineering sector.

Right now, we are looking to add to our successful team and therefore opportunities for CAD/Revit technicians to join us and work on a range of small and large scale, new build and refurbishment projects both in Glasgow and the rest of the UK enabling them to develop their career within an internationally renowned consultancy.

Requirements

• An excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD Revit MEP with proven experience, ideally having worked on multi-discipline design projects.
• Experience of creating and working with Revit families.
• Experience of importing/exporting schedule information within Revit would be beneficial.
• A working knowledge of AutoCAD 2D.
• A Robust knowledge of Building Services design and excellent knowledge and experience with services co-ordination.
• A keenness to drive through organisational change, training and development.
• Ability to work autonomously or as part of a larger team and able to make decisions, act on own initiative and operate in a pro-active way
• Good communication skills.
• Based in the Glasgow office but with flexibility to work for short periods of time in other parts of the business within the UK.
• Wider knowledge of other disciplines highly desirable.
• Capable of accurate work under pressure and able to work on several projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Project initiation, setting up and establishing new projects with the relevant file structures and BIM standards. Assist with establishing project teams and resources. Create and manage project specific families.
• Project delivery – produce accurate, co-ordinated Revit models ensuring integration of modelling information.
• Production of drawn information in the appropriate format (e.g. Revit, AutoCAD 2D) to meet project timescales.
• Provide quality control and ensure adherence to standards.
• Technical advancement in the field of BIM, e.g. by maintaining a current working knowledge of industry practices and advances with the technology, then implementing them within the department.
• Ensure design quality is maintained.
• Ensure consistency of approach across REVIT & BIM Output.
