Discipline Lead - Solid Waste Management Engineer

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Discipline Lead for our Solid Waste Management Team to assume a leadership position in our Environment Practice.  You will utilize your strong waste engineering, compliance, planning and/or sustainability experience and provide leadership to the team serving our internal, private industry and government clients with solid waste projects across Canada. The successful candidate will bring well developed management skills to provide senior level technical direction and mentoring of staff, strong client management and business development skills and will have the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

In this role you will be responsible for growing and managing our Canada-wide solid waste team, comprising technical and professional staff at all levels of development. You will be accountable for the successful delivery of our current solid waste projects, as well as growing our project pipeline.

Your role within the team:

  • Growing the group revenue from existing client relationships, developing new business and/or expanding lines of business.

  • Track leads and maintain client relationships to win new work.

  • Developing and expanding the team of technical and professional staff delivering solid waste projects.

  • Acting as a direct interface between clients and the AtkinsRéalis project teams and/or regulatory bodies, as appropriate.

  • Senior level project management (including technical program development, management of personnel and resources, tracking costs and managing budgets, implementing quality assurance reviews, and ensuring client objectives are met).

  • Identifying project quality/project profitability risks and liabilities and developing strategies to minimize them.

The ideal candidate:

  • More than 15 years of practical, progressive environmental consulting experience in the waste management industry, or equivalent industrial or institutional experience, and must be licensed as a professional - engineer by a provincial regulatory agency.

  • Experience managing and mentoring technical and professional staff - while actively engaged at growing a team.

  • Experience in managing/directing multi-disciplinary teams with skills in relevant disciplines including hydrology/stormwater management, waste related planning, civil/geotechnical engineering, environmental/structural/mechanical/electrical engineering.

  • Solid knowledge of municipal, provincial and federal environmental laws, regulations and guidelines as they apply to waste management design, remediation and/or construction projects in Canada.

  • English proficiency in reading and writing, with proficiency in French considered a strong asset.

Compensation Range:
