Electrical Engineer

  • Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the mechanical engineering coordinator & preparation of drawings and technical documentation required for the execution of a project including pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, semiconductor, chemical & petrol-chemical and other Advanced Technology industries (eg. EV batteries, data centres) including but not limited to:
    • System structure.
    • Single line diagram for main electrical distribution, motor control centers, lightning protection, and lighting distribution for LT circuits.
    • General study and engineering of power distribution from PCC to sub-PCC to MCC to consumer end, for process, industrial and general services.
    • Fault level calculations, relay coordination and relay setting.  Earthing design calculations, cable size calculations.
    • Review of vendors drawings for equipment, including PCC’s, MCCs, main lighting distribution boards, capacitor panels.
    • Single line diagram of PCC, MCC, PDB and LDETs.
    • Preparation of the Motor List.
    • Schematic diagrams for power distribution, emergency lighting, fire and alarm system, public address system, data network (point of use and empty conduit network), telephone network (point of use and empty conduit network).
    • Emergency generator and UPS.
    • Building access control system and CCTV for outside the building for security.
    • Cable schedules, cable tray routing & sizing in process areas and utility block.
    • Preparation of technical specifications for various key equipment like motor control centers, distribution boards, cables, Field Instruments.
    • Review of vendor detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ensuring design work interfaces well with that of other disciplines.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant engineering standards and procedures.
  • Coordinate, oversee and supervise the Site Construction Work and liaison with site general contractor.
  • Responsible for all Electrical engineering activities for the Basic Design and Detailed Design for an Advanced Manufacturing Facility.
  • Responsible in making sure of the technical & quality compliance of all electrical documents and drawings.
  • Requirements

    An ideal candidate should have the following qualifications:

  • Electrical Engineering degree or equivalent engineering discipline.
  • Preferrable registered PE (with BEM) or Chartered Engineer status
  • At least 7 years’ engineering experience in advanced manufacturing industries.
  • At least 7 years’ experience as Electrical engineering in Basic Design and Detailed Design Mandates in advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • Semiconductor and/or Chemical & Petro-Chemical manufacturing experience is added advantage.
  • Good hand-on skill with AutoCAD & 3D Modelling tools such as Sketch Up, 3D Max Modelling, Revit, etc.
  • Preferred Good knowledge of advanced manufacturing industrial factory design and industrial standard.
  • Thorough Knowledge of Malaysia Code and local legislative regulations / International codes regulations.
  • Experience with engineering design in industrial manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience in EN codes and specifications, Euro Codes Specifications and local Malaysia codes and regulations.
  • Experience in permitting application process for Malaysia for Electrical submissions.
  • Understanding of BIM and eBIM submission requirements in Malaysia.
  • Familiar with the office software and Auto CAD series software, for example AutoCAD Architect version, Revit or Naviswork and so on.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple competing priorities.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Responsible to coordinate efforts with the other disciplines, Client, and third parties involved in the project.
  • For Electrical discipline, review engineering deliverables and does checks of drawings, requisitions, and specifications for agreement with the project standards and specifications and for technical safety, operability, and maintainability.
  • Prepares DCNs and manages all changes within Electrical discipline.
  • Responsible for applying standards, procedures and other methods as required to maintain and enforce the required levels of technical quality.
  • Procurement support
    • Develop technical scope of work.
    • Technical bidding Evaluation and report.
