SNC-Lavalin Inc is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Training (EIT) for our Infrastructure Engineering team out of our Halifax, NS office. This position will include a broad range of consulting tasks. Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills, have a keen interest in a fast paced work environment, and be proficient in organization, and time/budget management. The successful applicant must be able to work interchangeably in a team setting, and independently, and will be expected to liaise with professional staff including engineers, subcontractors and clients

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting senior personnel in developing design and engineering specifications such as lighting, power, fire alarms, and other related systems;
  • Preparing detailed engineering calculations and design layouts;
  • Coordinating with other disciplines in planning and executing project tasks;
  • Calculating and preparing bills of materials and cost estimates in accordance with established codes, standards, drawings and other specifications;
  • Updating project specifications based on provided comments;
  • Ensuring all completed work conforms to tasks requirements;
  • Conducting site visits and inspections;
  • Assisting in developing feasibility studies;
  • Assisting more experienced technical personnel with specific aspects of more complex tasks;
  • Carrying out technical research and writing reports;
  • Producing engineering documents such as, design reports, cost estimates and construction specifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering;
  • Professional Engineers-In-Training in Nova Scotia (or eligible for registration);
  • Basic knowledge of engineering terminology and design philosophy;
  • Experience working with and understanding drawings and documentation would be an asset;
  • Proficiency in Power System Analysis (short circuit, protection coordination and arc-flash hazard analysis) would be an asset;
  • Experience with AutoCAD;
  • Experience with REVIT would be an asset;
  • Planning work execution to meet set schedules;
  • Bilingualism French and English (written and spoken) an asset;
  • Eligibility for CISD Level II (SECRET) Clearance
