GIS Analyst I

Atkins North America, Inc. seeks GIS Analyst I: Under supervision, performs standard geographic information system (GIS) work while developing professional proficiency. Applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of somewhat diversified GIS tasks requiring the use of analysis, interpretation, and deductive reasoning. Is able to detect problems in using standardized procedures due to changes in client needs or project direction.

Duties include: Applies standard practices and techniques in specific situations; Conducts data gathering, conversion and analysis of GIS data; Prepares data documentation or metadata for GIS projects; Prepares maps and exhibits with GIS data sets; Participates in client needs analyses; Maintains continued knowledge of technology developments in the GIS field and use of GIS software.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Environmental Engineering, or related GIS Environmental Discipline and six months experience in the job offered using GIS software packages. In lieu of a Bachelor's degree and 6 months experience, the employer will accept a Master's degree in Geography, Environmental Engineering, or related GIS Environmental Discipline. May work at unanticipated work sites throughout the United States.
