About the role

Reporting into the Chief Digital Officer, this exciting new role offers a unique opportunity to shape how AtkinsRéalis will safely and ethically leverage data to deliver game-changing solutions that delight our clients, and radically improve our operational efficiency.

The successful candidate will develop and implement the AtkinsRéalis global data strategy and management approach, in line with our corporate strategy, and will work closely with key stakeholders to ensure the strategy reflects market priorities and is implementable across all regions and sectors.

The Global Data Strategy and Management Director will collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish and champion data governance policies, robust working practices and data literacy initiatives, to create a strong data driven culture that reaches all levels of the organization.

Using industry best practices and emerging concepts, you will define, implement and manage a framework to ensure the business is not exposed to any data risks, and has an embedded, modern and sustainable approach to data management.

Your key responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

•           Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy that aligns with AtkinsRéalis’ business objectives and values.

•           Lead the design and implementation of global data governance policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance.

•           Collaborate with business leaders to identify strategic business questions and develop data-driven solutions.

•           Oversee the collection, storage, cleaning, and analysis of data from various sources, ensuring high-quality and actionable insights whilst maintaining ethical and security considerations.

•           Collaborate with Global AI Director and legal and compliance teams (as necessary) to address ethical considerations related to data use in AI.

•           Work closely with the Global AI Director to align roadmaps in conjunction with regional and market priorities.

•           Stay abreast of new data technologies, tools, and techniques and evaluate their potential application within the organization. Use knowledge to create compelling, accurate recommendations to senior stakeholders.

•           Manage and mentor a team of data specialists in a matrix environment, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.

•           Build relationships with external stakeholders, such as vendors and regulatory bodies, to ensure alignment with industry best practices.

•           Develop and promote a strong data management culture that prioritizes data security, ethical data use, and compliance, in line with AtkinsRéalis values.

•           Sponsor initiatives that measure and advance data literacy at all levels in the organisation.

•           Create, contribute to and sponsor thought leadership that promotes AtkinsRéalis’ position as an industry leader in digital.

About you:

•           Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, and provide reputable counsel to decision makers, including regional executive and board level.

•           Experience in securing successful outcomes when leading a diverse team in a complex matrix business environment.

•           Experience in ethical data management, with knowledge of how to create and apply robust frameworks.

•           In-depth understanding of data management, data governance, and data privacy best practices.

•           Strong analytical skills and the ability to distil precise insights from complex datasets, to enable data-driven decision-making.

•           Preferably, previous experience in designing data strategies and data management methods and applying them at scale across large organisations.

•           Inspirational leader who harnesses the power of diverse teams and who demonstrates AtkinsRéalis values with consistency and authenticity.

•           Clear communicator with a problem-solving mindset, capable of presenting the story behind the data in a way that is engaging and meaningful to non-technical stakeholders.
