The Role

Working with our clients you will interpret their requirements through the definition and assessment of manufacturing implementation strategies and the management of these programmes.
Client projects range from development of future manufacturing capability, improving current manufacturing practises, through to enabling their procurement supply chain.
You will be responsible for managing your task delivery to the budgeted cost, to deadline and achieve the desired high standard of quality.
Depending on the project, you will be working from either the Atkins office in Derby or at a client’s site locally.


The Requirements

You will possess a portfolio of skills and knowledge across a range of manufacturing competencies, including, but not limited to: 

•Implementing processes (New Product Introduction, Continuous Improvement).
•Capability assessments for new or existing technologies.
•Developing factory layouts and optimisation.
•Capturing manufacturing requirements and production implementation via staged assessments.
•Writing technical/procedural documentation.
•Checking procedures against specifications, drawings, contractual and legislative requirements.
•Working knowledge of Design for Manufacture and experience of practical implementation.
•Knowledge of manufacturing processes and maturing these from concept into production is essential. Experience of working in collaboration with design and other stakeholders is also essential.
•You will have a professional and friendly persona as you are likely to be working hand-in-hand with our clients. You will also need to be comfortable working on projects with minimal supervision. 

Qualifications 

MEng or BEng in an Engineering discipline (preferably manufacturing) with experience as a Manufacturing Engineer. 
Or
HND/HNC in an Engineering discipline (preferably manufacturing) with proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer.
Essential Criteria 

•Knowledge of a range of metallic manufacturing processes and their benefits and limitations. 
•Knowledge of measurement and inspection techniques.
•Knowledge of a range of metallic Non-Destructive and Destructive Examination techniques.
•Knowledge and/or experience of machining and fabrication.
•Ability to assess process capability.
•Able to identify project risk and appropriate controls.
•DFx (Design for Manufacture, Assembly and/or Inspection).
•PFMEA, FMEA facilitator.
•Experienced in a range of problem solving techniques.
•Process mapping and identification of improvement areas.
•Writing technical reports and/or procedures.
•Experience of customer engagement.
•Excellent communication and influencing skills. 
•Comfortable working in new and challenging environments.
•Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
•Ability to manage personal tasks to strict deadlines. 
•Enthusiastic and analytical engineering mindset.
•Professional persona.
•Possess an understanding of advanced manufacturing techniques.

Desirable Criteria 

•Demonstration of six sigma principles. 
•Demonstration of lean methodologies.
•Knowledge of steam-raising power plant and components (pressure vessels, heat exchangers etc).
•Tooling and fixture design and/or procurement.
•Supplier quality assurance / PPAP/FAIR.
•Supply chain planning and control experience.
•Project management skills.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.  If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview.
