Project Director (Design & Build) - Theme Park

As part of our Middle East business strategy is to focus on Saudi Arabia as one of our key markets, through which we have successfully secured a major theme park commission to take the design from pre-concept to IFC, and then supervise the construction activities until final handover.  As such, Atkins are currently looking for an experienced Project Director (Major Projects) to join our team and lead this major project, and others, in Saudi Arabia.  You will be managing and leading a diverse team of professionals including Architects, Engineers, Designers, Quantity Surveyors, Contractors and other supporting services

Drawing on your existing major projects experience, you will be responsible for providing leadership to the diverse design team in multiple locations, co-ordinating across multiple stakeholders, including the client, operator, ride vendors and contractor in various locations and time zones.  It is likely that the contract will be novated to a main contractor, so design and build experience will also be an advantage.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Deliver on all technical and commercial aspects of the project as per the contract requirements and business expectations

  • Provide leadership and direction to the team

  • Manage the client relationship and key stakeholders

  • Maximise the opportunity through change management and additional services

  • Ensure compliance with the Atkins Business Management System and company core values (Integrity, Collaboration, Safety and Innovation)

  • Support staff development across the team

Relationships:

  • Provide the principal point of contact with the clients’ senior representatives for the delivery of project services

  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with relevant project, technical, financial and commercial staff

  • Develop close working relationships with other Atkins business heads, locally and internationally

  • Mobilise and demobilize staff members to meet delivery requirements

  • Support, coach, develop and recruit senior manager and engineer

  • Develop effective working relationships with colleagues within the region and internationally to maximize the cost base and technical delivery capability

  • Support the Project Manager in the resolution of problems

Core Requirements

  • Degree in engineering or architecture

  • Experience in leading on large multi-disciplinary projects or running a programme of works, particularly in the entertainment sector

  • Experience of operating in a Design & Build contract

  • Proven success in the delivery of large capital projects within scope, time and budget

  • Ability to influence for results

  • Experience in the planning, managing and successfully delivering on projects involving numerous stakeholders

  • Effective IT and communication skills in report writing, presentations and holding effective conversations

  • Proven ability to lead, organize and direct large multi-national organization
