We are looking for at least two Generalist Engineers / EITs to work at the intersection of Engineering and Project Management at our Vancouver/Burnaby office.  The successful candidate will report into the Rail Infrastructure team; however, responsibilities and opportunities will vary depending on interest, capabilities and career objectives.  This role is not limited to trackwork design.  Suitable candidates will be agile, self-motivated and interested in pursuing a career in the design, construction and project management for light rail, metro and/or heavy rail transportation networks in Canada and worldwide.

Your role within the team:

  • Conceptual and detailed design in Trackwork and Alignment, as well as potential opportunities in other disciplines:
    • Rail Control Systems
    • Rolling Stock
    • Systems Engineering
    • Systems Safety Assurance
    • Project Management
    • Civil Design
  • Field engineering and construction support.
  • Coordination of project deliverables and associated time management/teamwork.
  • Multi-disciplinary coordination and communication.
  • Communication with clients, contractors and/or other stakeholders.
  • Drawing and documentation sign/seal (if applicable; this does not apply to EIT applicants).
  • Assistance with project management tasks such as scheduling and estimating.
  • Participation in the development of service offers (bids/pursuits).
  • Attendance at the office (Vancouver or Burnaby) at least twice per week on average.

The ideal candidate:

  • A university degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC).
  • Experience in railway engineering or a related field – or a desire to learn.
  • Computer competency and familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
  • High competency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Good communication skills / soft skills.
  • Strong work ethic and career aspirations.
  • All levels of experience are considered.

Assets –

  • French language skills.
  • Experience with project management tools such as MS Project.
  • Experience in railway project bids and/or construction – estimating, scheduling, construction methodology, quality, etc.
  • Other technical rail systems experience – e.g. rolling stock, operations, etc.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $69,100 - $95000 annually). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
