The Civil Engineering & Advanced Technology department within the Atkins Infrastructure business is looking to appoint a Reinforcement Detailer. The team has experienced strong growth and has expanded to the point where an in-house RC detailing skillset is required.
The successful candidate will be an experienced user of one or more 3D CAD packages, with proven experience managing model information in a common data environment for major civil/structural projects. You will typically be Bristol office based but flexible to work at client sites and other Atkins offices.

The Infrastructure business provides multidisciplinary engineering services and integrated solutions across a wide range of major civil engineering and infrastructure projects.

Tekla is our principal RC detailing tool of choice. A knowledge of this software is desirable, in house training will be provided to a suitable candidate, but strong prior experience of RC detailing is essential.
One of our key projects adopting Tekla is Hinkley Point C, to which the candidate can expect to provide significant support.

Atkins have committed to innovative digital targets, all reinforcement is produced as 3D models, this is a great opportunity to work on a groundbreaking project at the forefront of 3DRC. It is probable that the candidate will be required to join and nurture the growing team in the engineering office at or near the Hinkley point C site.

The team:

As part of our Infrastructure business, the Civil Engineering and Advanced Technology team in Bristol specialises in delivering the most challenging engineering projects both nationally and internationally. With existing relationships with the major operators across the Civil Engineering sector, we offer a stimulating variety of work within a team which is rapidly developing, most recently to meet the challenge of nuclear new build.

Responsibilities
  • Support the BIM Manager in the adoption of advanced BIM principles within the team.
  • Coordinate workload
  • Ensure full compliance with project governance and quality assurance with respect to CAD/BIM.
  • Manage project deliverables to ensure timely and accurate submission of deliverables.
  • Generation of 3D structural models using Tekla software.
  • Ability to develop custom components
  • Preparation of drawings extracted from 3D models.
  • Preparation of engineering drawings using AutoCAD / CADs RC or similar.
  • Production of bar bending schedules and MTO’s.
  • Completion of tasks received from engineers to quality, time and budget.
  • Provide inputs into BIM processes required for collaborative working across multi-disciplines.
  • Contribute to the preparation and implementation of BIM Execution Plans.
  • Contribute to the development of and manage compliance with corporate and project CAD/BIM Standards.
  • Ensure full records of incoming/outgoing project and issued information are maintained.
  • Report to peers highlighting any quality and resourcing issues for resolution.
  • Collaborate as necessary with our Global Design Centre in India to ensure we produce fully integrated designs.
  • Understand and work to the project BIM requirements (currently Level 2, moving to Level 3) within the Common Data Environment (CDE)
  • Awareness of health and safety including CDM issues and design risks
  • Support the production of bids


Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Preferably hold a minimum HNC qualification in Structural/Civil Engineering.
  • Evidence of ongoing CPD in recognised industry applications (ie Tekla, AutoDesk).
  • Valid driving license

Experience (Essential):
  • Working practical knowledge of Reinforced Concrete Detailing.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure design processes working within a multiple discipline engineering environment, and within a project and commercially focused business.
  • Identify, interpret and apply required industry/ client/ internal CAD standards.
  • Experience using a wide range of detailing software.
  • MS Office suite user.

Experience (Advantageous):
  • Experience of using Tekla for RC detailing.
  • Experience working on major civil/structural projects.
  • Experience of supervising, developing and mentoring others.
  • Experience working seconded to a client or representing a company on site.
  • Office365 user.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary it will be discussed with you at interview
