The Atkins Returners Programme is back for 2021

As part of this diversity, we are currently recruiting talented candidates through our Returners Programme, aimed at experienced professionals with a track record of delivery as Quantity Surveyors who now wish to return to work after an extended career break of typically 2 years more, who are either economically inactive or now working in lower paid, temporary or part-time roles. Our 6-month Returners programme will help you to ease back into work in a safe and structured manner and help you to rebuild your professional Quantity Surveying career from relevant previous expertise and experiences.
Atkins develops individuals through a portfolio of training and development courses that are designed to help you make the best of your abilities and talent, so rather than provide a conventionally structured, one-size-fits-all approach to relaunch your career, you will be given the opportunity to gain support from coaching, your line manager, project or subject mentor, to participate in training courses in accordance with your development plan and to build your expertise whilst working projects within our client-embedded teams.

Your purpose:
Our quantity surveyors go beyond managing costs. They’re involved with major building and engineering projects, ensuring that value for money is always balanced with meeting quality standards and regulations. Cost-planning and commercial management are integral components of a quantity surveyor’s role, but an Atkins professional goes further to deliver success.
Our quantity surveyors know everything about statutory building regulations, assess commercial risks and often work with both clients and contractors, navigating on- and off-site requirements to ensure projects run smoothly. What’s more, they’re team players who do their best work every day. By joining our team, you’ll be part of some of the biggest and most rewarding construction projects around.
What you can bring?
- Conversant in general aspects of quantity surveying with an ability to prepare estimates.
- Experienced in utilising software systems e.g. CATO, CAD Measure, etc.
- Ability to lead on the preparation, monitoring and forecasting against budgets during design, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning phases of a project.
- Ability to produce financial and commercial reports.
- Awareness and understanding of efficient commercial administration of projects.
- Regular client interfaces and development of longstanding professional relationships.
- Knowledge and understanding of the component parts of a project and overall construction costs.
- Some travel to client sites may be required.
