Atkins is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starters to join our Miami or Orlando team as a Scientist with 4 to 8 year of experience at a minimum. Under supervision, performs standard scientific work while developing professional proficiency.


Job Duties:

Generally applies standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of somewhat diversified environmental evaluation tasks, requiring the use of land utilization analysis, strong regulatory understanding, natural resource interpretation, and deductive reasoning based on regulations established by local, state and federal government, and being able to detect problems in using standardized procedures as well as work effectively in a group setting.


Education and Experience:

B.S. or B.A. in a field of Science, Ecology, Environmental Science, Animal Science or Soil Science to commensurate with hiring discipline. One to three years of experience is required of incumbents with directly related Bachelor's degree.


Special Skills:

Strong GIS skills.

Arborist.

Familiarity with Florida ecological communities.

Strong knowledge of Florida regulatory (permitting) framework.

Extremely well organized. This position will require the incumbent to deal with high volumes of work and maintaining detailed records and managing streams of information.

Good analytical skills and attention to detail; technical writing, computer and communication skills.

Strong communication skill.

Beneficial to be SCUBA certified.
