Senior Well Engineer â Wilhelmshaven (Client Site) or Atkins Hamburg office

This is an opportunity to join a growing business which is expanding into continental Europe from our UK base.

About the Project or About the Team:

We are looking for a Senior Well Engineer to be responsible for delivery of well engineering project works in the energy storage sector.
You will work within the Atkins Energy Germany business, facing the Energy Storage market and based predominantly from our clientâs site in North-West Germany (near Oldenburg). Flexibility for travel to other locations in Germany & Europe and our multiple office locations is essential for this role.

Our work is diverse and therefore you will be flexible, adaptable and have a keen interest in working with a multi-disciplinary engineering team. Building strong and trusted relationships is an important aspect of this role, where you will work closely with clients and colleagues alike. Youâll enjoy working with others.

You will be required to support our growth in the UK, Germany and European energy storage market via the technical delivery of well project works. You will be expected to integrate both sound engineering knowledge and practice with an appreciation of technical and safety risk implications.

The Person:

This post offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to have an important role in the Atkins Energy Storage business.

You will work on Wells projects for our key clients where you will be required to demonstrate both technical and leadership abilities to deliver to successful completion. Based in our expanding Germany business and working within our wells team and as part of international multi-disciplinary surface and subsurface engineering team you will:

â¢ Support the technical delivery of projects for our energy storage clients where you will plan and support engineering works on a variety of projects and be able to demonstrate where you have used both technical and leadership abilities to deliver to successful completion.
â¢ Use your knowledge and experience of drilling / completions to develop solutions to complex technical issues, communicating these solutions to clients and engineering them through to implementation.
â¢ Support delivery of our well engineering projects ensuring the solutions delivered by the Atkins Energy Storage business are technically excellent, commercially viable and aligned with the latest health and safety requirements.

You will be confident, self-motivated and outgoing person who takes pride in the quality of your work and the success of your projects.

You will also have a strong interest in the Energy market with a good understanding of multi-discipline engineering (including Owners Engineer, FEED and Detailed Design) as well as asset management

Qualifications:
â¢ Degree qualified in an engineering or subsurface discipline
â¢ Professional qualification such as Chartership.

Essential Criteria:
â¢ Demonstrable experience working in a drilling or completions engineering role:
â¢ Understanding of well engineering (including design and construction), including:

o Knowledge of drilling equipment
o Knowledge of well intervention equipment (e.g. snubbing, workovers)
o Knowledge of wireline operations
o Knowledge of completion operations
o Knowledge of suspension and abandonment requirements based on Mining Authority regulations and industry guidelines

â¢ Experience of well projects including planning, implementation and close out
â¢ Experience of creating both detailed and budgetary cost estimates for well operations
â¢ Knowledge of and experience working with Well Integrity Management Systems
â¢ Knowledge of subsurface maintenance requirements including:

o Wellhead maintenance
o Well and salt cavern evaluation logging
o Management of isolations

â¢ Demonstrable experience in the supervision of teams including:

o Onsite supervision of personnel and operations
o Witnessing of testing
o Accident/Incident Report
o Completing Daily Reports

â¢ Knowledge of applicable Mining Authority regulations and industry standards such as API, ISO, NORSOK.
â¢ Ability to understand a wide range of processes through review of P&IDs, operating instructions, etc and to be able to communicate this to a variety of levels within a client organisation;
â¢ High level of communication skills, both written and verbal, and experienced in creating and presenting technical reports;
â¢ Capable and confident of building and maintaining strong business relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
â¢ Drive and ambition to help us create a market leading business;
â¢ Flexibility to travel.

Desirable Criteria:
â¢ A background in hydrocarbon storage or the conventional Oil & Gas industry
â¢ IWCF Interventions or Drilling Level 4
â¢ Experience of well engineering software such as WellCAT or Wellplan
â¢ English and German speaking
