Sr. / Int. Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Prepare or  review of design documents for both nuclear and conventional systems of the nuclear power station e.g. Design Specification, Technical Specifications, Drawings, BOMs, SCL, Code Classification document etc.;
  • Perform or review Design Calculations and Assessments as required;
  • Prepare or  review Engineering Change packages following OPG  Change Control (ECC) process;
  • Prepare or  review TSSA registration packages;
  • Interface with regulatory bodies and the client stakeholders;
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers;
  • Perform walkdowns, attend site visits and meetings as required;
  • Support Engineering Management with timely updates on engineering progress, performance and staffing needs;
  • Directly interface with Customer’s (OPG) engineering representatives. Ensure that applicable standards and regulatory requirements and met;

Qualifications (includes, but not limited to):

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited University with a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience (minimum 10 years in the Nuclear industry as a Senior Design Engineer  working  on modifications to  nuclear systems or components);
  • Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario and member in good standing;
  • Working knowledge of nuclear codes and standards, including CSA N285.0, CSA N289, ASME Section III Division 1 and   ASME B31.1:
  • Experience in preparing design documents such as Calculations, Assessments, Design Drawings, BOM and Code Classification Forms;
  • Experience in Engineering item procurement activities such preparing Technical Specifications, Engineering Quotations and reviewing tenders and vendor documents;
  • Qualified, or eligible for  ASME Section  III, Appendix XXIII qualification is an asset;
  • Working knowledge of  OPG ECC work processes and procedures including Asset Suite;
  • Experience interfacing with TSSA;
  • Experienced in preparing TSSA registration / reconciliation packages and memos;
  • Good working knowledge of Nuclear facility mechanical/ process equipment and systems;
  • Knowledge of analytical tools e.g. PipeStress, ANSYS, AutoPIPE  and  Mathcad  is an asset;
  • OPG Orange Badge qualification is an asset;
  • Excellent written and oral communication  skills:
  • Results driven individual with strong interpersonal skills;
