We are seeking a Sr Project Director to join our Maryland or Philadelphia office. You will lead and work on various projects within our Department of Transportation (DOT) Resilience market.

About You:

In this Sr Project Director role, you will manage project execution, client relations, and business growth for AtkinsRéalis’ transportation business with our Department of Transportation (DOT) Resilience market. You will provide leadership, direction and guidance to managers and staff within area of responsibility.

How your experience will contribute to the team:

  • Project Delivery: Coordinating and developing project teams to deliver quality, timely, and profitable projects.
  • Business Development: Identifying and positioning AtkinsRéalis for upcoming opportunities in collaboration with Business Development and Strategy (BD&S) leadership, Sector Managers, and Key Account Managers (KAM). Coordinating with client teams to position for new/expanded opportunities through innovative approaches, unique value propositions, and differentiators.
  • Client Management: In concert with BD&S, Sector Managers, and KAMs, build relationships with existing and new clients, establishing opportunity pipelines, supporting pursuits and development of proposal and interview content, supporting preparation and negotiation of scopes, promoting cross-selling opportunities, and directing and guiding delivery teams in the management of projects and delivering to expectations and budgets to position for additional services.
  • Working with BD&S leadership, Sector Managers, and KAMs to identify and build program management practices in support of client goals and enterprise growth.
  • Supporting/leading AtkinsRéalis’ DOT BU’s involvement in relevant conferences, inclusive of presenting or panel participation.
  • Identifying and assisting with developing tools to ensure on-time delivery of required services.
  • Mentoring staff and supporting marketing and proposal activities, including integration of project delivery from planning to implementation phases.
  • Ability to travel to meet with clients/potential clients and team members, attend conferences, etc.
  • Ability to perform as a “seller-doer” for the marketing and delivery of program management services

  • Experience with competitive funding pursuit and capture, inclusive of directing grant application development
  • Ability to effectively prepare and deliver (as needed) client presentations and written collateral to support positioning AtkinsRéalis with state DOT clients for upcoming opportunities and programs
  • Experience developing relationships with clients, teaming partners, and staff and recruiting, mentoring, and motivating staff for project delivery
  • High proficiency with MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); SharePoint

Role Requirements

  • B.S or M.S. degree in relaed field.
  • 15 years of experience since B.S. or fourteen years since M.S., focused on climate adaptation, hazard mitigation, government affairs, grant management, economics, finance, master planning, emergency management/disaster recovery, community development, and/or urban planning.
  • Existing DOT relationships
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, public speaking, and persuasive ability.
  • Very strong team management and leadership skills.
