SNC-Lavalin Environment offers consulting services in the following areas:  land reclamation, environmental studies, environmental impact assessments and social impact assessments, habitat assessments and compensation, aquatic life assessments, air quality assessments and green house gas emissions, carbon credits, sustainability, environmental management and planning, geographic information systems, contaminated sites, waste management, mining, water distribution and treatment, pollution control and rural development.

Responsibilities

  • Business development in both the upstream oil and gas and mining sector.
  • Manage reclamation projects and support reclamation inspections in the upstream oil and gas sector as the signing authority.  Experience in mining will be considered an asset. 
  • Work with other reclamation practitioners across Western Canada to develop and expand reclamation service offerings in oil and gas and mining sectors.    
  • Project management including cost development, proposal/work plan preparation, liaison with regulators owners and other stakeholders, and preparation and/or review of technical reports, support of Certificate of Restoration / Reclamation Certificate processes.
  • Identify geotechnical and erosion project risks, and work with technical support team to resolve. 
  • Provide mentorship to reclamation team and subcontractors with respect to efficient project execution and cost control.
  • Liaise with landowners and the client’s construction, operations, production and surface land personnel. 
  • Promote corporate and safety/environmental policies and ensure that all field operations are in compliance with applicable government regulations.

Requirements

  • Completion of a degree in environmental science/engineering, agricultural sciences, and/or natural resources/earth sciences (or related field) with greater than 10 years experience in upstream oil and gas in BC.  Experience in Alberta and in the mining sector is considered an asset.  A relevant graduate level degree may be considered as relevant experience.
  • Relevant professional designation (e.g., RPF, P.Ag, P.Eng., etc.).
  • Knowledge of BC reclamation guidelines and related regulations.
  • Experienced & knowledgeable with respect to soil classification, plant identification (including noxious weeds), and vegetation performance assessments. 
  • Experience in erosion control and contaminated site assessment considered strong assets.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication & customer service skills.
  • Proficient with computers.
