We have been providing a wide range of services to the nuclear industry in Canada and around the world since for more than 60 years.  We are proud to be the steward of Canadian CANDU nuclear technology and to apply our extensive knowledge to service the BWR/PWR market. Our expertise includes: Nuclear Steam Plant (NSP) engineering, Balance of Plant (BOP) engineering, Plant Life Management and Extension, Retube Tooling Systems, Inspection and Maintenance Services, Steam Generator Replacement, Plant Equipment Refurbishment and Retrofits.

We have the requirement for high level expertise to optimize and implement  the waste management systems currently  being developed at CNL - Chalk River and Morison. The main areas requiring  support are:

•     a process for identifying and training SQEP and ASQEP,

•     refinement of the waste management process, and

•     definition of arrangements for managing ILW.

Requirements:

The following roles will be required to effectively deliver the scope of work, it is possible that more than one resource in each of the categories  will be required:

•     Low Level Waste Subject Matter Expert (SME)- Develop the Suitably Qualified and Experienced

Person (SQEP)/Appointed SQEP (ASQEP) process and training

•      Intermediate Level Waste Subject Matter Expert (SME)- Support the definition and implementation of the Intermediate Level Waste (ILW) requirements  program.

•     Waste Engineer- at least one resource will be full time for 12 months  to support the SQEP training and waste process and to mentor identified CNL staff resource.

Develop and implement a Suitable Qualified and Experienced Person {SQEP) process,roles and training program

Identify approx. 3 x roles that have a heavy involvement with the characterisation,identification, packaging, assessment and routing of waste

Identify the requirements/tasks identified in these roles Including:

•    Design & facilitate workshop(s) to gather options/issues from a cross section of those involved in the process.

•    Review workshop outputs and agree actions

•    Develop SQEP roles & training profiles

•    Review SQEP roles & training profiles & finalise

•    Develop Appointed SQEP (ASQEP) profile for a chosen authorisation

Develop a refined waste management process

•    Based on the industry best practice, outline the waste process.

•    Facilitate a workshop to present the waste process flow chart and agree a trial process

•    Develop refined procedures/adapt current procedures as required

•   Agree pilot area and next steps

Define the arrangements required for managing ILW waste packages

•   Intermediate Level Waste (ILW) process & requirements

•    Storage & maintenance of containers including receipt and release process

•    Records for container filling and final package

•    Process for the storage,maintenance and retrieval of filled packages

•    Physical movement of containers & packages

•    Disposability of packages
