Associate Director (Bridges)

AtkinsRéalis Ireland is seeking a dynamic and experienced Associate Director to join our thriving Bridge Design Team in Dublin. With a substantial portfolio of secured projects and a robust pipeline of exciting ventures, this role offers an outstanding opportunity for career advancement. The successful candidate will have the potential to progress to Technical Director with support from our senior management team.

Enthusiastic and experienced Senior Bridge Engineers who can demonstrate the skills required below will also be considered for this position. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership: Lead and manage a local team of Bridge engineering professionals.
  • Business Development: Drive business development and manage tender bids for professional services contracts.
  • Resource Planning: Conduct short, medium, and long-term resource planning to ensure project success.
  • Design Oversight: Provide design input and oversee the delivery of structural aspects of projects.
  • Project Management: Manage medium and large-sized projects, ensuring quality, timelines, and budgets are delivered.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Effectively communicate with internal and external parties, including clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentorship: Mentor and develop junior team members.
    PSDP Duties: Assist in undertaking the duties of the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP).

Desirable Skills and Attributes:

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and hardworking, with a flexible approach.
  • Proven ability to lead projects from a technical perspective.
  • Experience in client-facing roles with excellent communication skills.
  • Previous staff management experience.
  • Proactive approach with a track record of delivering high-quality services to clients in both the public and private sectors.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in bridge design, inspection, assessment, and rehabilitation.
  • Proficient in Eurocodes and structural analysis software (MIDAS Civil or LUSAS).
  • Experience in the design and refurbishment of concrete, steel, and masonry structures.
  • Proven experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ireland and/or UK experience.

Requirements:

  • Level 8 Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience as Bridge / Senior Bridge Engineer, with at least 10 years of experience on Irish projects post-graduation.
  • Chartered Bridge Engineer (CEng, MIStructE, or equivalent).
