AtkinsRéalis Infrastructure Project Delivery Practice (PDP) is the Centre of excellence for the delivery of infrastructure projects and combines the best in project management and design management to provide a full suite of services to clients in the public and private sectors.  The team is responsible for delivery of design services across our markets of Water Infrastructure, Defence Infrastructure, Nuclear, Aviation, Energy, Rail (stations), and Urban Developments.  With recent project wins in the East Midlands and increased work with our Water and Defence clients, we have exciting new opportunities for an Associate Director to be based in our Derby office. As an Associate Director, you would be responsible for the delivery of major multi-disciplinary projects, owning and leading the process from concept through to construction on our expanding portfolio of the biggest and most challenging projects.

Your Purpose:

  • Taking a strategic lead role as PM or PD on large and/or complex multi-disciplinary projects. Ensure successful delivery to agreed targets, identifying and agreeing project objectives and developing a strategy for achieving these Identifying and managing any matters that could pose potential contractual/commercial risks to AtkinsRéalis, as well as those of our clients and project stakeholders.
  • Leading the project team – building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding and developing the team, contributing to team management, growth and development.
  • Facilitating communication, co-ordination, and information flow with the Client and within the project team, including any subcontractors and partners (internal and external).
  • Assembling and owning the project delivery programme and delivery plans.
  • Form strong working relationships with other AtkinsRéalis disciplines, external design consultants, clients and stakeholders comparing revenue with predicted costs and identifying risk allowances, margin and provisions, including Earned Value reporting.
  • Closing out the project on completion, archiving project documentation, updating market information, ensuring that lessons learnt are captured and disseminated internally and ensuring that a Client Satisfaction survey is initiated. Support business development activities in line with our market strategies and governance.

What you can bring:

  • Relevant qualification (Bachelor or Masters). Chartered Engineer/Scientist/PM or equivalent with demonstrable experience managing design commissions or design and build contracts on large infrastructure projects.
  • Market sector experience across a range of Water and/or Defence infrastructure projects is an advantage. Experience in deploying various forms of contract, in particular NEC3 or 4.
  • Experience of managing design projects to time, cost and quality objectives and familiar with earned value techniques.
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team and demonstrate good leadership qualities. Customer focused with excellent client relationship management skills.
  • A supportive and encouraging approach to mentoring less experienced members of the team.
