Senior Environmental Consultant and BREEAM Infrastructure Assessor

We are looking for a person with practical experience of environmental coordination, assessment, management and BREEAM Infrastructure experience to join our team.

You will work collaboratively with a range of technical specialists on a broad range of projects, lead and coordinate Environmental Impacts Assessments and related deliverables, lead and deliver BREEAM Infrastructure assessments, work closely with clients, develop new areas of business and mentor others in the team.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in an environmental or related discipline and have a comprehensive understanding of all the technical specialisms required for an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) as well as being a BREEAM Infrastructure v6 qualified assessor. Responsibilities:

Environment:

  • Coordination and delivery of environmental work being undertaken by multi-disciplinary teams including EIA, options appraisals and environmental management.
  • Champion high standards of environmental performance within multidisciplinary engineering projects, influencing project development and delivering optimal environmental outcomes.
  • Collate and edit information from a range of sources to provide clear, well written reports.
  • Undertake own work to an excellent standard, and review the work of others, on time and to budget.
  • Able to manage clients’ needs in a skilled, professional manner.
  • Lead and support on bid preparation and develop new areas of business for the team.
  • Undertake Continual Professional Development in accordance with requirements of chosen professional institute.

BREEAM Infrastructure:

  • Supporting and leading sustainability management and sustainability certification management on major infrastructure programmes. This would include:
  • Preparing BREEAM pre-assessments, strategies, specifications and reports. Assessment of evidence to BREEAM Infrastructure v6 standards.
  • Preparing and delivering sustainability review and assurance meetings with clients, design teams and construction teams.

Requirements:

Environment:

  • Undergraduate or Postgraduate degree in one or more of the following subject areas Sustainability, Environmental Management, Geography, Engineering. Chartered.
  •  A relevant years of post-graduate experience (ideally within a consultancy environment). Experience working major infrastructure projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the EIA process and environmental technical specialisms.

BREEAM Infrastructure:

  • Current qualification/ accreditation in BREEAM Infrastructure Projects v6.
  • Ability to accurately and efficiently assess project plans, designs and specification against BREEAM Infrastructure assessment criteria.
  • Knowledge of effective and efficient practices for monitoring and managing the sustainability performance of contractors against detailed requirements in a construction environment.
  • Ability to prepare detailed sustainable design and construction specification documents based on BREEAM Infrastructure assessment criteria.
  • Knowledge of the benefits, costs and technical content of BREEAM Infrastructure as a recognised 3rd party certified sustainable design and construction rating schemes such as

General:

  • Experience of leadership within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong report writing, verbal and presentation skills and able to review the work of others to ensure quality.
  • Able to prioritise and work effectively under pressure.
  • Good interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate issues and ideas effectively.
  • Be flexible, adaptable and prepared to take on new challenges and work from other AtkinsRéalis or client office locations.
  • Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes.
