As an associate in our Transportation team, you'll be pivotal in encouraging and directing the implementation of ideas that shape the future of how we move. We work on a large variety of significant and challenging UK projects, such as Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route, A14 Cambridge-Huntingdon, and Human Drive. You'll feel a great sense of pride in shaping high-quality civil and structural designs across new build, renewal, maintenance, and assessment works. Collaborate with national and international design teams, using your insight and leadership to generate positive, sustainable impacts on society and the environment.

We offer flexible working where you will need to be based out of our New Castle office 3 days a week.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Project management and technical leadership of wide variety of multi-disciplinary transport infrastructure schemes, including the management of finance, programme delivery and technically reviewing others’ work.
  • Clear understanding of project commercial accountability.
  • Lead on work-winning, client relationship development, preparation of proposals and input into bids for multi-disciplinary transport infrastructure projects.
  • Developing staff capabilities and identifying skill requirements to ensure workforce fits for the future.
  • Liaison with clients, stakeholders, regulators, sub-contractors and other internal disciplines.
  • Actively developing new business opportunities whilst deepening key client understanding and relationships.
  • Actively developing and broadening own technical experience and expertise to fulfil the responsibilities of the role and in line with market trends, with support from the business on own training and development needs.
  • Provide technical guidance, constructive support and mentoring to junior staff and supporting their technical development.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate a proven track record of providing technical advice and leadership on delivering highways and active travel design from inception to construction.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of project management of multi-disciplinary transport infrastructure schemes for local and national transport bodies, including managing project teams resulting in delivery to high standards.
  • Working knowledge and demonstrate understand of the relevant legislation, technical guidance, industry standards and best practice, especially in respect to highways and active travel.
  • Experience of winning work including commercial awareness and understanding, including ability to complete successful tenders.
  • Excellent communication skills and proven ability to manage and mentor staff as well as managing time and work as part of a team and individual working.
  • BEng, MEng, or MSc Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • IEng or CEng with a relevant professional institution (e.g. ICE or CIHT), or similar professional experience.
  • Flexible and prepared to take on new challenges.
  • Full UK driving licence and the ability and willingness to travel throughout the UK and work on short term assignments.
